A question for the fashionable...

and i count myself among you but i've been wondering:
i have a really great gym bag that's got black and white pictures all over it in a messy decoupaged sort of way, w/red trim, handles, strap. can i not carry it while wearing one of my favorite coats, which is a small blue and green plaid? doesn't that technically clash, as it's a conflicting pattern problem? should i just say fuck it and wear them together anyway? what if i wear it w/my burgundy coat, since (in my book) burgundy and red clash?

That sounds one cool bag. Id go for the 1st coat: Fuck the pattern. And the red and green will clash too. But the more clashing, the better.

I agree. Sometimes reds actually go well together, but if your sense is that it looks wrong, trust yourself. Nothing wrong with clashing patterns in this day and age.

I'm terribly fashionable... but only in my own twisted and rather subjective way and it's telling me that I would wear that coat and carry that bag! Basically conflicting patterns really aren't that problematic if you look like you meant to do it. Black and white go with everything and red looks good with blue and green so there's no real colour clash. Plaid isn't regarded as a print so much as a few blocks of colour thrown together anymore so go for it!

thanks all!
i feel perhaps i should take a picture of myself carrying the bag and wearing the coat and post it. that's hilarious to consider; we could do that on this forum, like before a big event, call it the 'do i look ok?' thread. or, i guess we could also post pics of ourselves looking fabulous...call it the 'aren't i gorgeous' thread. hahaa.
i'm not really a 'clasher', but i know it can be a choice.
gingerbop, i gotta say, it is a great bag. i spent too much money on it of course but i had to get it. it also comes in a smaller purse version, and it's taking everything i've got to not get that one too.

OOOh sounds tempting: i wouldnt be able to resist.
Thats a great idea about the "how do i look/i look fabulous" threads. I wish i had a digital camera, or at least a scanner. Hmm. I feel deprived. Also, a "dont i look drunk" thread could be amusing.

I really need to have a/a coat and b/a bag like you describe, praying mantis.

Wear them both - Anna, Kit Cat and Gingerbop are right. And please post a picture, I need to see if we were right now!

maybe i should get drunk and post a picture of myself in the coat with the bag, just to kill two birds w/one stone!
it's funny you brought this up, i have more than one 'don't i look drunk' picture.
ok guys, i'll get on this picture thing, but seeing as how i don't have a digital camera, it might be a minute.
