Care to dance about the Maypole?

On the day that is traditionally celebrated with more homoerotic and sexual undertones than any other national holiday, who here is interested in gathering for a little bit of engaging in your legally supported right to a peaceful demonstration about just about everything, somewhere in the capital.

There is a possibility of some drinking afterwards and the weather is looking to be good.

Is it really that time of year already? I think I might be tempted in to some Mayday action.

Just on the off chance- no one happens to own a black veil do they? I want to dress in dramatic funeral attire this year but I'm lacking the vital piece.

I am tempted.

Anna, pop down to your local curtain shop and buy a bit of old-lady type lace curtain. Then bung it in the wash and dye it black. But why am I telling you this? You study fashion.

I thought I'd ask the populace first but I might be able to pick up some offcut from John Lewis for about £4. The expensive bit would be the dye- so little money left!

Can't you get black gauze or netting? A piece of that would surely do as a veil. You could fix it in with black bobby pins.

Well you certainly know the way to my heart...

I have my art exam that day, on the public holiday: surely thats against the law, or at least it should be. I will paint a maypole with homoerotic overtones and a black veil for it, specially for you people. xx

I ain't missing Mayday. Not fer nuffink.

The eternal dilemma- fluffy or spiky? Which is the stance of 2003?

Either way, I'm there.

Fluffy works best for me, but then again I'm a paranoid person from Down Under who doesn't want hir visa revoked!

I know that Stop the War are doing stuff (www.stopwar.org.uk) with Critical Mass, or I guess we could have a brainstorm for something along the lines of the Kittens of last year.

Shall we just organise a brainstorming session and see what comes out of that?

How about the Sat or Sun after Easter weekend? We could meet up somewhere/someone's and go from there!?!

Print up a load of t-shirts with 'HUGGLES' written on them... fluffy and yet terrifying...

The 'official' site is here). I'll be as fluffy as ever, and photographic too, but I imagine the spikies will attend. The meeja, I note, is already thinking/writing in terms of a riot and the police likewise.

I'm going to be on my best "looking for trouble" behaviour. Not in any participatory fashion, but a recorder of the days events.

However, I think it would be cool to meet up at some point during the day for some organised fluffiness before those who wish to fuck shit up begin to do so. Also we should have a pre-arranged post rampage beer point arranged. Might I suggest that on this occasion that the suggestion of the PL be defered in favour of a place that will have space for more than one small person and their pet ferret.

On the subject of attire, can we all wear rubber Flyboy masks.

I want a Huggles T shirt, I'm certainly not wearing a Flyboy mask and I fully support the no PL idea.

I thought the make-yr-own placards thing from last year was absolutely top - I'd be well in favour of doing that again.

For those desiring T- Shirtage - I can advise you that WHSmiths is supposedly selling printable transfers fairly cheap. They work in Inkjet printers and then just iron on and your away.

Let's arrange a place and time then to discuss ideas, i went to the Mayday meeting last sunday and the main idea put forward has been to get hold of this map they are doing witht he offices of the corporate dogs and see what you can do yourself. Perhaps that's what we should discuss.

Someone care to suggest a time or place or both?????

By the way, last year was awesome, but i'm sure we can think of something better.

It would fairly much have to be next weekend.

For the socio-savvy amongst us, can someone throw up some links for organised activities and demos.

If Mayday isn't enough, there's also Queensday, here in Amsterdam, on the 30th. It's the (previous) Queen's birthday a sort of Dutch Mardi Gras in which tourists, foreign friends, suburbanites and hicks invade our fair town to drink orange beer and gin and eat orange donuts. The locals either flee town, throw parties or sell their old crap on the sidewalk.

Feck and darn, looks like I won't be able to join in the fucking of shit this year. Still, have fun anyway.
