Okay so, I have purchased a domain name. Now I can point this domain name to any old IP address? Specifically, I can point it to a subdirectory of a domain that I already have? Or not.

What I want to happen is for http://www.jennyeverywhere.com to take people to http://www.queergranny.com/jennyeverywhere/index.html (say). And ideally, the URL that would appear in the browser would look like http://jennyeverywhere.com. Is this possible, or is this just my fevered imagination?

Will i tried looking at the url you gave for jenny everywhere on queer granny and got an error message so it might not be a domain name pointing problem you are facing

Oh, I haven't got the page up yet!

But I can do this? I can just tell the GoDaddy people to point the domain name wherever I want?

You should be able to, yep. Look for the place you registered the domain at - they should have a control panel that'll let you specify where you want the name to point; sometimes using IP addresses, sometimes using virtual masking, which is what you want, I think... It'll take a couple of days to kick in properly worldwide, though.
