Odd topic thread, where shall I put it?

If I wanted to start a thread on Fetish clubs and people's experiences of them, where would I put it? It doesn't really seem like it's applicable to conversation, although I guess it could go there...

BDSM stuff has tended to go in the Head Shop, for what that's worth. Specifically talking about personal experience of clubs is tricky, but I don't think it would necessarily be out of place in the Head Shop even so - unless it was about trying to plan an evening out, in which case the Gathering. Conversation would probably be fine but I tend to think of the HS as a slightly more amenable, 'safer' space when it comes to discussing pervert mechanics.

Yes, thank you Flyboy, that's exactly the point. I wish to dicuss pervert mechanics and not (necessarily) arrange a jolly jaunt for us all, and that's exactly what I thought about Conversation too.

But Headshop you say. Hmmm, doesn't it all get a bit...er...cross in there?

Oh Head Shop only gets cross if you're not sensible or use ridiculously bad grammar or moan thoughtlessly. Actually it's quite an angry place but there are good motives behind it and some logic. Generally if a thread doesn't fit a moderator will stick it somewhere else anyway so I should just write it and pop it down in the place that seems most obvious- fetish fits pretty well with cultural studies- and then let everyone else decide if its happy there.

see, now thats not where i would have looked for it.
no wonder you lot seem less actively kinky than i expected from such a pack of wierdos...
when i wake up tomorrow i will try and remember to search there.

is conversation really that intolerant or lowbrow that you need to keep away from it?

I don't think the issue is with Conversation being lowbrow or intolerant, it's just a lot more prone to threadrot, rather than Head Shop, where mods (and, one would hope, other posters) will be trying to maintain a focussed discussion.
