Immortality

I have a friend who experiments with occult and psychic phenomenon and he has developed a theory which i am not sure what to make of. he states that immortality can be acheived by using a genetic line as a carrier wave for an individuals psyche, like a form of directional reincarnation. his theory is that by projecting his conciousness into bodies that more closely resemble his own in form (and thought) he might retain a cohesiveness of spirit that would eventually allow him to transcend time and go back to instruct his ancestors and himself in this method. He points to entities that have done this as The Dalai Lama and Jesus Christ as examples (note the geneology in the first book of matthew, the Dalai Lama uses probably ideological ways of transfering his spirit). Other "proofs" he sites is the idea that "demons" can pass themselves down through to the third or fourth generation which makes sense if the original vessel must die before the next vessel is filled. A less trust worthy proof that he has is the non-linear entity which shares residence in his head (not that i should make fun of this having a similar entity in my head). He wishes to initiate this transformation by projecting his consiousness into a book or other heirloom that contains key ideas and then passing it down to his nearest non-born relation. I think that this might work in theory but i don't know about in practice, it might be a great way to jump start trans-temporal evolution. has anybody heard about such ideas or practices or about focusing techniques that may aid in it.

Don't do it. You'll end up trapped in a cursed book (or trapped in a delusion).
Even if you succeed, what about the person you're displacing? Isn't that bodysnatching?
There's a reason for Death, and it's not a good idea to try and cheat it. Immortality is a white elephant (if you know what I mean) and a diversion from the true work of a magician.
"immortality can be acheived by using a genetic line as a carrier wave for an individuals psyche, like a form of directional reincarnation" Reincarnation is already directional, from a post morten perspective. If you try and decide where to be born next from a living perspective you'll fuck yourself up for sure- and most likely come back as a book, or someone who gets bodysnatched...

Do it. For the Universe At Large, you are already dead in any case, and it doesn't give a fuck if you insist you are alive. It'll prove you first hand that there is no difference between life and death and it will send all those intelectual koans to the basket: you'll come back enlightened with the ultimate truth and you'll start teaching others how to do it, providing relief and expansion of mind, life and universe. If human beings can do this, then I suggest we start doing it, at least those who feel like.

And about displacing others, you won't be able to do it if the soul/anima/person of the other is fiercely determined to stay. And it may also happen someone comes bumping to you and you have to fight with teeth and nails to stay, so, you see. Of course, you might prefer to choose someone who is willing to switch places in order to accomplish other goals. You may want to read one of Lobsang Rampa's novels in which he explains how he did this, can't remember the title.

And that non-linear entity is not in your head. Its in the universe, which is inside your head, which is the universe.

This theory is not new. There is a school of thought that believes this is exactly why the Egyptians were so into mummification: If even a single cell survived intact... you get the picture. Ra could keep his favourite body - complete with genetic data on the adaptations required by the Base Model to survive on this newly-seeded planet. etc.

The book is called "The Outer Space Connection" Alan Landsburg - of it's time and out of print... but the research and Footage filmed was turned into a movie: narrated by Rod Serling!

you probably won't find that either.

This transmigration thing also reminds me of what little I know about L. Ron Hubbard's Dianetic theory - although I think he did a bit of an MC and stated that subsequent incarnations do NOT have to be later in chronological history; that timeslices can be inhabited regardless of the entropic arrow known as Time.

maybe i'm off - John Travolta got his barbsuit yet? Straighten me out, Gabriel

If I recall correctly, the Dali Lama makes use of lateral reincarnation. That is, the next Dali Lama is already reincarnated while the old one is still alive. He just has the sense to not speak up about it until its his time. He can thus inhabit multiple bodies in the same time, for he is beyond time. Or maybe he's just a bodysnatcher too

I believethe Dalai Lama, as well as many Rinpoche's, reincarnated post-mortem. 42 days post-mortem, to be exact. Children are usually identified as having specific traits indicative of a reincarnated lama, then tested further to prove their identity. It oftens takes several years for the disciples of the Lama to locate his reincarnation.

Maybe i didn't explain him quite correctly. he said he would reincarnate along the same line by choice (depending on how much of a choice is given to him) the whatever he passes down to his progeny (who is himself reincarnated) would remind himself of who he is/was and how to do whatever goal he set out to do. he has goals about shaping the world in specific directions which require multigenerational planning ( he's a little nuts in my opinion). there shouldn't be any displacement or bodysnatching, although he isn't morally opposed to those kinds of things happening. generally it should just be reinforcing things that are already happening to acheive a purpose.
Does anyone know the actual truth about the Dalai Lama? Pre or post mortem reincarnation? or both. Eastern religionish things are not my strong suite although i will look it up when i have the time, that sounds very interesting, as do the books you recommended. I have a friend who was born nine months before Marilyn Monroe died who is convinced she is the reincarnation of MM (she's a little crazy, too) even though she has been repeatedly told that is impossible because Marliyn was not dead yet. she will be delighted to hear about this.
and for the record i personally would never intentionally reincarnate on this planet, would not have anything to do with such a self serving scheme, and the entity in my head doesn't believe in any of this, we are much too reasonable for this crazy talk. but it's fun to think about.

So he's going to make his children in his own image? Bodysnatching his descendants? That would be even more sinister if most parents weren't trying to do it already. At least he'll fail miserably, that's one consolation. ( he's a little nuts in my opinion) I think you're right.
LVX23 is right about the Dalai Lama, it often takes years to find the next reincarnation. He's not the only reincarnator, Panchen Lama is also continuously reincarnated (although controversial)look at this and this and all the info on the Dalai Lama here

Listen to yourself... you sound like a crazy person.

I've been thinking alot about this lately. I think that someone tried to body snatch me but both of us got stuck in here. If you have someone/thing in your head that has lived before isn't it a parasite. Isn't this pretty close to spiritual rape?

Macha,

I've had a similar experience, so I know where you're coming from. It resulted in many years of maddening internal conflict against the feeling that if I let my guard down I would be devoured. Eventually, we sorted out our differences and agreed to be one, a process which has taken near a decade to work out with much internal compromising on how we were to live, and life has been good since. Though I'm still not sure which of us was the original...

But anyway, the experience of it was that doing this was a great crime, and was very much black mojo to do. It is spiritual rape of the worst sort. Fortunately, we found the compromise in agreeing to join, which is really the only way through it keeping your karma intact. After all, if all parties agree, there is no crime. But how likely is one to find a willing host for this sort of thing?

I think raising your kids to be big on Ancestor Worship might be a better plan

I was just reading the second-to-last chapter of The Occult by Colin Wilson and he talks about reincarnation and one of his conclusions is that two souls can inhabit the same body. This is also similar to Peter Carroll in Liber Null He talks about the white rite the green rite and the red rite if I recall right. All three are techniques to put your spirit into the body of a new born. I believe he says something about the transfer needing to occur before the child has quickened and its own soul has inhabited it. If the mage were to implant after this point the result could be me and my imaginary friend.

Cusm,
Is merging the only solution that there is? Isn't there some way to kick his ass out of my mind?

You mean like an exorcism? Possibly, but don't count on it. Fighting it directly will only feed it. You can try ignoring it into submission, just take care it doesn't fester in your subconscious to trip you up.

If you really want to deal with it like this, you have to name it. Naming gives you the handle you can use to banish it, or transform it into something else. I basicly named mine "me", as an example. The trick there, naming it as something will cause it to become that thing to some degree, which might be enough to deal with it.

Just take care that nature abhores a vacume. That is, if you banish it, you'll need to fill that space in you with something or it or something else will only come back. You're too used to having something in your head. So, you'll need something else to focus on until you can heal the wound, if you ever can. Like a guardian spirit, for example. Or a Lwa, or a Totem, or Jesus. It doesn't really matter, so long as you've something to look at instead of the hole it used to occupy. Something that can keep it at bay, occupy that space in your head, and not be a bother to you.
