I have never been to Penge... (and other journeys which didn't quite come off)

... but I hear it's very nice this time of year.

I almost went to Southend On Sea, but it was too minging. The whole damn area was so vile I had to turn the car around and head for Chelmsford, because it was prettier.

Yes, you heard correctly.

I have also never been to Iceland, despite a profound desire to do so ever since I saw 'Cold Fever'.

I was once promised a visit to Machu Pichu, but we went to La Parva instead.

I was prevented by skullduggery from visiting LA by bus. The culprit thinks himself long safe, but when I have leisure I shall raze his holdings and burn his cows, eat of the fatty flesh of revenge and turn him out into the street to starve like the spineless hustler he is.

Wow. Hadn't realised I was still angry about that one.

I have never ridden through Paris in a sportscar, with the warm wind in my hair - but then I'm not thirty seven yet either.

I almost went to a witchcraft museum in Cornwall, but Mrs Sax wanted to go to the beach instead, and it was too hot to argue. The beach was very nice and it was a lovely day, and I can probably go to the witchcraft museum some other time.

I really wanted to go to Mexico, but right at the last minute I went to Cuba.

I once set off to go to Preston but had a puncture and spent seven hours by the side of the road waiting for an RAC man.

And I still intend to go to Budapest, whatever anyone says.

I almost made it to 'Las Posas' in Xilitla, Mexico. A.k.a 'The Gardens of the Mad Englishman.' This nutcase British lord build a surrealist paradise in the middle of the jungle...I never made it because the friends I was travelling with mutinied on me, and insisted on going back to Mazatlán. (sigh). I should have gone on alone...

I almost went to South America, but moved to London instead.

As Elvis sang ...

"Well I've never been to Heaven
But I've been to Oklahoma
Well they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember"

The only flaw being that I haven't actually been to Oklahoma. But I have always wanted to go to New York and, last New Year, I did. Vegas has yet to be honoured with my prsence, however. It's only a matter of time ...

I almost went to the Tivoli gardens when in Copenhagen yesterday but they were closed for the winter. They reopen this Friday. With a big celebration for their 160th birthday. Which also happens to be my birthday.

Bastards.

[threadrot] The Tivoli gardens aren't that great. They're fun but Christiania's more interesting and their are a couple of great art museums in Copenhagen. [/threadrot]

I've never been to the Eiffel Tower despite a trip to Paris. It seems rotten to be dragged round cold streets for hours but not even glimpse a famous landmark.

My dad almost took a job in the arctic when I was very small. So as much as I hate my hometown, it was probably better than the alternative: growing up in Norman Wells, Northwest Territories. Brrr.

In line with the abstract: I regret not having been through North Africa, and I especially regret the fact that I don't live in Graz. (Yet.)

I've never been to Lesvos. There was gonna be skinny dipping in the sea, too, 'twas this women only walking holiday. I was booked and everything. But didn't go, mostly for health reasons. I'm actually not that bothered.

I never got my picture taken on top of Ben Nevis, but I have been there... I have, however, never been to Ben MacDhui to visit Fear Liath More...nor walked in Glencoe. And I've never been to the top of Snowdon.

My dad nearly took a job in the Bahamas, or one in the Cayman Islands when I was small - pretty, innit. But just imagine how much I would have spent on sun cream by now. Sigh. He also applied for a job in Stockholm.

I've never been to Iceland, Alaska, New Orleans or Egypt. One day it will happen.
