Full Metal Challenge- or what is Henry Rollins playing at?

This could have gone in the "Guilty Daytime Pleasures" thread, were it not for the fact that it's on on Sunday evenings. Anyone else catch this? It's so not my kind of TV- three teams custom-build a car, then play various "Robot Wars"-style rounds in it. Culminating in a Sumo match between the two winning cars.
But it's presented by Henry fucking Rollins!
I only watched it just to see how far ole Hank could sink, and how bad it could be- and let's face it, it's not great.
But Rollins is the consummate game show host- he's loud and macho 'cos he's talking about cars and destruction, he seems to have actually been born to be an American sports commentator, and, best of all, he manages to offset all this with infectious enthusiasm- he looks like some enormous child who's just found the best toy ever. Just watching him commentating on the rounds made me grin like an imbecile.

Anyone else see it? Or am I just too sad for words... (on second thoughts, let's leave that second question well alone, shall we?)

I loved it, but then it is my sort of thing anyway. It's not just bloody cars, it's big, fuck-off monster vehicles, and the bashing and crashing takes place in the shadow of a bloody great cooling tower. The main arena is inside a bloody great cooling tower! You'd have to be a hanky waving, dinner party attending, humanities graduating, Wallpaper perusing ponce to sniff at that.

But yeah, Henry Rollins was brilliant, definitely in his element. Not just a kid with a toy but a spiteful, hyperactive kid smashing up someone else's toy. Looking forward to the rest of the series, me.

i enjoyed it for a while, but it was very repetitive.
More events would have been nice, something more off roady.
The trucks were great, Rollins was fun.
i dont think there will be a 2nd season, but i liked it.

Didn't see the show, but saw the trailer a few days ago, thought I'd misheard somebody say the words 'presented by Henry Rollins', confirmed it with my sceptical eyes and then chuckled in a superior fashion.

Hmm, funny old thing the human brain - there was I in the shower earlier this evening thinking about how ten years ago I put Rollins' then-current spoken word album (the title of which I've inconveniently forgotten) on a list of albums to buy, decided I should get round to it now I've got some cash, and then wondered what made me think of it.

Cheers Stoatie, another mystery cleared up and Rollins would have got away with it too if it hadn't been for us pesky kids.

I suppose the question is now this: how's your view of him changed with his new(ish) TV show?
