if you forget to put a subject into a post the board takes you back to the editing screen, but escape characters ("/") insert themselves into the text of your post around punctuation.

Submitting the post again with a subject leaves these escape characters in your Message Body.

...so I guess what you're saying is that it's a good idea to include a subject when you post a new topic?

While you're at it, a topic abstract can also be handy.

Titter.

Cockroach, someone kindly told me this when I first started posting - I hope they don't mind me repeating it: Abstracts aid forum searches and help keep threads on-track. They've also become part of Barbetiquette since they were introduced, and chances are that if you forget to include one, somebody'll pick you up on it in a thread, again risking steering it off-track.

This is what aus means, just in case you are unsure.
