The Magick of Mark E. Smith

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the lovely Mark E Smith (The Barred of Salford and lead mumble/shouter in T'Fall) was a practicing "witch" in the Crowley vein. Can anyone shed some light on this at all?

Forgive me for shouting off clueless uninformedness, but I doubt it> Cna't imagine Mark E sitting down and doing owt like that - far to blodoy cynical.

I know he's talked about the supernatural a fair bit in interviews - ghostly carry-ons* and precognition in particular - and I'm pretty sure he's claimed to have a sensitivity to 'spooky vibes', but I don't think he's ever mentioned magick specifically and I've not seen or heard anything else to connect him to it, unless you include the tarot reference in the "Palace of Swords Reversed" album title.

* According to Smith the song Bremen Nacht (from The Frenz Experiment album) was inspired by an incident in Germany when he woke up covered in bruises that looked like they'd been made by children's hands. I think. I'll update with the precise details if I ever find them

I think if he did any conjuring, it would be a squinting demon, saying, "You wha?"
