Batman: The Frightening

OK: Warner have registered domain names involving the phrase "batmanthefrightening". Which is a good tip for it being the title of Batman V.

Basically: it's Batman, who seems more post-Burton-Batman, who never saw the light of Schumacher, versus the Scarecrow.

There's a script out on the net, which you can click here for.

It's quite interesting - notably, all the stuff in Arkham and which scenes are/aren't real... but at the same time, there's a lot of very formulaic action in there which pisses me off. It's just not as interesting as I'd hoped.

It might be bogus, it might be an early draft, but it's still probably worth a look. Also: is it true that Chris Nolan is on board? He's certainly referenced on some forums as being the currently attached director, and he could do good things.

Any thoughts? Was this worth a heads-up or have we all seen it before?

Almost ten years ago I heard that they were going to make the third Batman movie with Jeff Goldblum as the Scarecrow and a nightmare sequence with Nicholson reprising his role as the Joker. Jack semi-confirmed this, but nothing happened with it.

Nolan is definitely WB's new chosen but that, and the Frightening script, doesn't mean anything at all. Warner Bros hasn't gotten any of its DC characters off the ground in 10 years time, always trumpeting some new deal with a director and never getting even close to production. Too many executive cooks in the kitchen, from what I understand.

Ahhh, a Batman movie.
Without Schumacher.
And with only one bad guy.
And it's The Scarecrow.

I know I shouldn't get excited, because it'll probably never actually happen, but, fuck it, I'm excited.

Scarecrow is a fucking legend.

Paleface, thanks for the link. I like what I've read a lot, but today comicbookresources.com posted a story that Goyer will be doing Batman V, and it ain't this story.

Rumors can be sad.

Goldblum would make a good Scarecrow. His flip-out scene in Igby Goes Down scared the fuck outta me.

Goldblum was excellent in the classic Mr. Frost

Except that Walken's character in the series is dead.

What about the Batman Year One film that Darren "Requiem for a Dream" Aronofsky is supposed to direct? Any news on that?
