Does anyone have any information about the speculative Invisibles movie? I read that Quentin Tarantino was thinking about directing, but that's just a rumor. Anything solid?

As far as I can tell there is nothing solid. If you search The International Movie Database there are no relevent results and this site has details of films that are in very early stages of development. (I was going to use Drew barrymores Barbarella remake as an example but said movie has now disappeared from the database)

How in God's name would they make an Invisibles movie? Jesus it would be slaughtered worse than "From Hell"... what stroy would they do? Black Science One? if they tried to incorporate ANYTHING of Ragged Robin, they'd lose the audience in two shakes. Counting to None is wierd and malicious, She-Man, House of Fun, and Anything for Volume 3 are whacko...

I'd love for Invisibles to be accessible to more of an audience, but accessibility is the issue, really.

i believe that the public informaiton available on this is that Richard Metzger of Disinformation bought the option from Grant, and the two of them are pursuring development with Grant creating a treatment. all this is fact, not rumor.

there might be more specifics in the Anarchy 4 the Masses book.

my votes is for a half hour animated series, utilizing still art.
1 episode per issue, and no voices, just what i like to call "speech baloons" where the text of the dialogue can be read.

I think only in this way would any other medium be able to support the invisibles...

I think a Sopranos style TV setup would be the perfect way to tell the story in another medium. Do 12 or 13 episodes a season, with very high production values. I don't think a film could work, because the firststory is similar to The Matrix, and I don't think the book really gets going on all cylinders until Entropy in the UK.

Yeah, I think I did find the information from a link on disinfo.com. I think a movie would help to make the series more accessable, but they would have to cut a lot of subplot. A tv show might work as well, but if it got cancelled it would be really annoying. I should be picking up Anarchy for the Masses today, so I'll see if there is any speculative mention. Thanks a lot for the clarification!

The cinema medium can easily support the themes and ideas of the Invisibles. The question is how could a decent movie get made bearing in mind audience and budgetary constraints. I'd say the best hope for a good movie is an anime version.

I'd just do a really faithful adaptation of the trade where they go to America and find the AIDS vaccine. I wouldn't explain any of the backstory and just go for it. Invisibles fans would love it, and the mainstream would really dig the gun happy King Mob and zany crew. Any gaps would just make the movie "cool and weird" to the casual fan.
