Good day to you all and a blessed quarter to come. I went to the top of a giant hill (St Catherine's, Winchester) to greet the dawn this morning with some friends, to get a bit of balance. Played with firestaff, lay on the ground, looked at the sky, walked by the river.
Just wondering if anybody else out there celebrated. Didja?
(BTW am now at work and V.tired, excuse any mad sleep deprivation sympoms. Symptoms even.)

I didn't do anything, because I completely forgot. I've been completely knackered with flu anyway, these last couple of days, so wouldn't have done anything even if I remembered. Funny tho' - I wasn't into the idea of seasonal festivals at all when I first interested in magick - the influence of all those dark and destructive Chaos magick books no doubt - but have been increasingly drawn to them the last year or so, as I become even more of a soppy hippy than I was previously. Still haven't managed to remember them yet though.

Me too. I used to be all 'Pshaw, Magick is an evolving system of techniques and New is Better, baby, feel my fractal fibonacci focus-free postmodern practice'.
Then I gradually came to think that thousands of years of magicians, shamans and wotnot can't all be wrong. And the Sun, Moon, Earth and Stars are important, probably. Also the idea of Junctures- as Nodes are places of power, Solstice/equinoxes etc. are times of power.
So I checked it out. Went and sat on a node, at a juncture, and whoo! it was groovy. Soppy hippy magick rules!
(of course, I would have got more of a lift from sacrificing a couple of virgins at the same time but they're so hard to get these days. Besides, I've misplaced my sacrificial altar..)

Happy Equinox everyone!

I haven't done anything yet today, but will probably do something tonight when I get home from work.

I feel a strong attachment to the equinox in March because my birthday is the 23rd and so I usually try to combine a celebration of the two. Although I must admit that it still feels very very strange to be celebrating a Spring Equinox rather than an Autumn one.

I'm used to being outdoors in warm sunshine, a bbq and maybe even a river or a pool involved. I'm also used to it being about the celbration and wind down of the earth's energies from the bounty of the past year. So to instead be cold and wet and feeling the rush of energy as the earth winds up to be productive and bountiful is just indescribably odd!

Welcome through the looking glass Angel! Don't worry, you'll get your Vernal Equinox, but we've got Summer to go yet! Woohoo!
(Well, I say Summer but it might not be what you're used to..)

Spent all day trying to think of why todays date was ringing alarm bells. In the Immortal words of Homer J Doh!

Seeing the dawn above St Catharine's I'm jealous. I must go walk the maze sometime this weekend.

No plans as yet. Going to light a candle for the equinox, which will not be on it's own.

Happy Spring everybody.

Yeah, the Equinox is all about balance, so I find the timing of the current war in Iraq rather interesting. Let's hope it will achieve some kind of balance, rather than throwing everything out of balance.

I got the silent alarm bell at 1am this morning by my bods (the actual time of the Equinox) and went off and did some deep meditation and had a serious chat with my various Allies/etc. It's going to be a busy year.

We're getting our garden into order at the moment, which is great. The trees are budding, and the birds love our back garden because we keep feeding them with peanuts and birdseed. The feckers are literally gobbling it up by the truckload. I guess they need all that energy to mate and have babies at the moment! Yay, spring fever!

Will trundle round Cardiff or Herts and try to find a nice crossroad where I can bury something for Hecate (she's a Chthonic deity). Apart from that I haven't planned anything but happy Springtime everybody!

Started my Equinox happenings with a bit of unplanned, twitterpation- induced bedsheet rumpling. First emotionally-healthy sex I've had in about two years. Couldn't ask for a better start to the green growing season (or, were I down under, finish to the bountiful, blistering summer.)

Speaking of down under, my planned activities for the day include astral contact with a mad group of chaos pagans in Melbourne. This will be my first attempt at long-distance aetherial work. Had best nap, after the mundane job, if I don't want to sleep through it all, tonight.

On the whole chaos v. traditional pagan issue, I think it is important to recognize patterns of all sorts, regardless of source. Though it is common practice, chaos does not have to mean lack of regular pattern. What I see as the modern understanding of chaos is quite the opposite, in fact.

So, listen to the wind, feel the cycle of Terra, Luna and Sol rush through it all, offer to the loa, blot the heathen gods, wank over a bounty-building-sigil and/or celebrate with your local Wiccan coven.

!!A good Vernal/Autumnal Equinox to all!!!

Attention all. From henceforth Quantum's official title, according to his girlfriend, is 'The King's Royal Buttmonkey'.

I'm sure he'll be along in a second to explain why this relates to the Spring Equinox...

Well...
On the Saturday after the Equinox some friends and I drove to Avebury for the Druid festival. First time I've been there, it was great- love the Red Lion. Alistair appointed me Booze Bearer to the head Druid Arthur Pendragon, charged with the task of filling his drinking horn with Cider as and when. We walked the stone circle with the God party and got on quite well, met up with the Goddess party to find my friend Mark had been appointed honourary Goddess, welcoming people into the circle. We called the four corners, celebrated the Equinox (again) and a good time was had by all. Coincidence also abounded but that's another story...
What I didn't do was get Arthur to knight me- I was graalbearer, he had the sword, he would have done it, I forgot to ask... ah well.
So now I am sometimes known by the epithet 'Buttmonkey to the King' or similar. It's a funny old world...
(Hopefully I'll be able to post a photo of Arthur channelling one of the stones, with me prancing like a tit on top of it, Fool that I am)

Happy Springtime to everyone!

I cleared away my collection of evergreen branches, and brought in a bunch of daffodils.

Otherwise, I just sat quietly last night and felt the earth stirring, gearing up for new growth and the joyful riot of sounds and smells and colors. I decided I should do the same.
