Well, they'll, they'll just have to (gulp) c-clean it out then, won't they? I'm taking my mum there next month! The French secret service will ferret them out, like in Day of the Jackal. They're badass.

Hey, dumbass terrorist, France voted *against* the war. No wonder most of them are getting caught.

And, that's pronounced "nuculer."

This war's really doing my head in. Actually, a sudden recap of the last two years is.

Powdery Substance Found at New York's LaGuardia Airport

Authorities discovered a suspicious powdery substance at LaGuardia Airport on Friday, partially evacuating the main terminal and treating 10 people who said they felt ill.

The substance was discovered about 1 p.m. during the search of a handbag at an American Airlines section of the terminal, said a police spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the city's airports.

Results of an on-site test were inconclusive, and a hazardous materials team was called to the scene to investigate, police said.

Traffic is now stopped on the Manhattan Bridge, and the three guys in custody are confirmed to be of "middle eastern decent."

This is all courtesy of TV news, as I can't find any Internet info about it yet.

Okay, now the TV is saying they don't know if there were suspicious packages, or if there was any rappelling going on.

Sky FOX, on the story!

Are they at least sure that there were 3 men? What a debacle!

And they wonder why people are losing their faith in the media. Sigh!

Just a comment about suspicious white powders - a while back, Spain tried to get on the "we're getting hardcore with terrorist cells, please like us Mr Bush" bandwagon and arrested 20 plus "Men of North African origin".
Turns out that the white crystals found in the kitchen (or chemical weapons laboratory) of their commune/squat/whatever, turned out to be washing powder. Who'd have thunk?
Hell, In that case, my flatmate's a terrorist. She has no regard for the sanctity of human life, anyway (if she did, she might do the dishes once in a while).

...and it's back to orange...

The government on Sunday raised the national threat level to orange, indicating a high risk of terrorist attack, and said threat indicators are "perhaps greater now than at any point" since Sept. 11, 2001, with strikes possible during the holidays.

Americans were promised "extensive and considerable protections" around the country and told to stick to their travel plans despite intelligence indicating the al-Qaida terrorist network is seeking again to use planes as weapons and exploit suspected weakness in U.S. aviation security.

Some of the intelligence information gathered in the past few days suggests that "extremists abroad" are anticipating attacks that will rival or exceed the scope of those of Sept. 11, Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge said.

"We expect al-Qaida will strive for new attacks designed to be more devastating than the Sept. 11 attack, possibly involving nonconventional weapons such as chemical or biological agents," the State Department advised.

At a hastily arranged news conference at Homeland Security headquarters, Ridge said credible intelligence sources "suggest the possibility of attacks against the homeland around the holiday season and beyond. The strategic indicators, including al-Qaida's continued desire to carry out attacks against our homeland, are perhaps greater now than at any point since Sept. 11," he said.

The alert level had stood at yellow, an elevated risk and in the middle of the five-color scale, since May.

...I really wish they would stop using the word 'homeland'. It's really creepy.

Americans Mostly Shrug Off Terrorism Alert
Well, what are we supposed to do? Visibly quake with fear? Buy bottled water? Cancel our holiday travel plans, after the government's cried "Wolf!" so many times? God help us, I hope I don't regret saying that -- but really....

I was talking to a friend of mine about how there's no way I'll go visit the states in the foreseeable future. Then my company decides I have to go to Boston for a business trip next month.

Should I be shitting myself in fear of being whisked off to a secret jail just because I'm brown or should I slap myself silly for being a stupid neurotic twat?

Just tell your company you aren't willing to risk arrest, detention and possibly execution without trial. That should get you off. It's the main reason I ain't giving them any of my tourist money until the salivating Texas war-monkey goes away.

We've heard enough terror alert warnings by now that no one really pays them any mind. At least not around here. Maybe NYC and DC they take it a bit more seriously out of necessity or habit, but the rest of us don't really give a flying fig.

Besides, its the holidays with relatives that we dread more than terrorism. That and the fucking traffic on the 24th.

I just came back from Bukkake--er, Bush--International Airport in Houston a couple of days after Code Orange. They ran everybody's shoes through the scanner, which was fine with me since they're steel-toed anyway.

Code Paisley is when terrorists put LSD in the city reservoir...

Thank The Lord we are protected by the Bush government that cherishes our freedom...although Orange Alert only applies to the US, just to be on the safe side, I am spending New Year's Eve in London under my bed with a 12 guage shotgun keeping a beady eye from my window on so-called 'neighbours', their 'visitors' and even people around me who - on the face of it at least - seem innocent enough but who knows? "Better safe than sorry" as they say.

Terror is everywhere, among us, around us, no-one is safe, everyone is suspect, careful what you say to so-called 'friends' and, remember, sleep with one eye open or you might not wake up at all!

Happy new year (but careful who you party with tonight and, no matter how much you 'think' you know them, watch their every move)!
