What's this expression from?

An old lady in the train station just now was carrying a placard saying "George you ignorant slut." I've seen the expression around here once or twice, I think. Anyone know what it refers to?

IT is from early Saturday Night Live, when Dan Akroyd and Jane Curtin did "Weekend Update." I think.

Yup - it's a misquotation of "Jane, you ignorant slut". It's very hard to describe the way DA delivers it, but it's in exactly the friendly and professionally flirtatious way an anchorman reacts to one comment by the weathergirl.

So, "slut" here is a hangover of the original phrase. You may want to read it in the more trad. version of "slut", that is somebody who does not keep their house in good order...

I'll fill in a little more...it did air on SNL and is pointing to an old 60 minutes debate show that occurred between two individuals who I can't quite remember by name at the moment. It's actually the rekindled segment that Bob Dole and Bill Clinton are debating issues on.

Ah yeh, I remember it now. How odd, though. Anyone think it could be this administration's "It's the economy, stupid?"

The woman on 60 minutes was Shana Alexander and the man was James J. Kilpatrick on a popular segment called Point/Counterpoint

There was a great parody of that in "Kentucky Fried Movie," the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker team's first movie (they of "Airplane" and "Naked Gun") called "Count/Pointer-Count." The first debater is a middle aged guy, starting off, "Well, Margaret, even you and your liberal cronies have to admit..." When his roughly contemporaneous foil replies, it goes something like, "Why, Mark, you old stick in the mud. You can take that garbage and stick it up your ass. I've been listening to that bullshit for seven years, and it makes me want to vomit every time. And for further measure, go sit and spin."

As for "slut" referring to Bush, you mean to say that someone who so overtly whores himself out to the highest bidder ISN'T a slut?

Hmmm going from budget surplus to huge budget deficit in less than 4 years - maybe this administration still needs to learn that 'it's the economy, stupid.'

Where did this come from?

You were searching on "sluts" again, weren't you, Brahma?
