where did we go today?
now old Bill is in the billions
and how much did we pay?
for the quick and dirty systems?
it's the beat of "why, 'too 'kay"
that's floatin' all these things today
and why we like to say
that we're free despite the pay
so thank God that we're all free
with your bible, and on your knees
just repeat it after me please,
"thank God, we've got TV"

hey, who's this greg palast?
and why'd we never see him?
did he say something too fast?
or did he just insult our freedom?
even though we're in control
the liberal heads will roll
because we're free to pass the buck
with that check and balance stuck
so thank George we're all free
and thank Laura for the tea
for if it wasn't for TV
we probably wouldn't be

hell, i know it sure would blow
... if we didn't rush... the radio
with what it all is, the sex appealing
with what's that working rich-quick dealing
real... damn... nicely
say it real fast, and that's precisely
the real reason is, and why we rule the air
manufacture anything, that feels quite fair
but where spraying underwear
is all we got to spare
in the motion twixt our ears
and the potion that God fears

when you look at it
and take a gander-sniff, a bit
you see that's all there is
and join us as a whoring wiz
so thank God that we're all free
with your bible, and on your knees
just repeat it after me, please...
"thank God, we've got TV"

(thank God, we've got TV
thank God that we're free.)

Thank God: You need a more expressive voice if you're going to go down the David Byrne route, I presume that's your natural accent? I think it would have been better to follow the rhythm of the music, though that also seemed to go a bit dodgy in places too.

Showed promise tho'.

'One Too Many' was better, though the guitar playing was a bit too busy in places and 'Feel the skill of this playing!'.

indeed, agree with your comments. i learned elsewhere i can tune that tabla down a whole step for some real sound. gonna add some bass pops to tG!,

these were both cut in under an hour (not counting lyrics for tG!, which is part of a larger poem). thing is they are improvised on the spot.

fortunately i keep tracks separated out, so i can go back and clean things up here and there as necessary. i wanted to get something out before the war tho =P.

the whole point of one too many is that it's ceaselessly over the top =p but agreed on the comments.

i've never spent any serious time listening to david byrne. i was inatight spot when i recorded the voice tracks - not happy either, although i do like some of the melodic ideas (bearing in mind again these were improved), the execution just sucks. c'est la vie.

thanks for the ears =)

on to the next...
