Aqua Regis: The Royal Wee and Acid Reign

In the first Coil album, "Scatology", the booklet is filled with odd quotes and cryptic statements. Some of these I've followed up: Alfred Jarry's "Ubu Roi", all the Pan stuff (in fact this album got me interested in Pan and I used it at my invocation to him some time back), the reference to "The Selfish Gene", etc. But one segment of the booklet puzzles me. Maybe someone here can illuminate me... (hell, you guys helped me out with the Black Sun).

The liner notes to the track "Aqua Regis": The Royal Wee and the Acid Reign. "Rule Brittania- Brittania Waves the Rules".

Now, I know Aqua Regis was important to the Alchemists, but what the hell is a Royal Wee and what do they mean by Acid Reign? And where the hell is that Brittania quote from?

In another album Coil had a track called Aqua Regalia, which I guess is another Alchemy reference. The liner notes for that song say it's about the links between royalty and water: Royal Waters: The Royal Wee (there it is again!): Underwater kingdoms and Europe after the Reign (Reign again?)

What is this link between royalty and water? What does it mean by reign in this example? Underwater kingdoms... Atlantis maybe? Bah, it's driving me crazy!

well, I did some searching and found out that "Rule Britannia: Britannia rules the waves" is from a song called "Rule Britania". Now I just need to find out what Acid Reign and Royal Wee refer to. I googled Acid Reign but all I got were links to some metal band.

Can't believe you didn't know the Rule Britannia song. Do you know nothing of our glorious Empire!
Ahem - the "Royal Wee" is a play on the way royalty refers to itself as a collective ie: Queen Victoria's famous statement "We are not amused." "Wee" being the Scottish word for small.
"Acid Reign" is probably a play on "acid rain", suggesting the general acidity/unpleasantness of being ruled by a monarch (in actuality, it's a pretty inocuous experience).
Just some thoughts, and not to be seen as the final statement.

"Wee" is also a kind of babytalk word for urine as well, Royal Wee, then equals "Aqua Regia", the whole thing adding up alchemy, piss, the monarchy etc.
