Thanks for checking it out, MC and for your commentary. I think it's really the benefits of just slugging it out day by day, and also the fact that I've been dreaming of these stories for over a decade. The coloring style of chosen in particular has made it really easy to progress without getting mired in too much technical bullshit. My greatest hurdles have been fine tuning Kirby's old school look and having to meticulously mark out the borders of anything transparent (you'll see more of it on p. 25) Each page is turning out better than the last one (although 24 is going to be tough to beat). We'll see tomorrow when 25 drops. All I know is that I am loving this shit, even if my hits rarely break 10 or 15 a day. I think it's just cool that a couple of people I've never seen in my life are checking GC out. This summer's first issue (thanks to a generous tax refund, thank you America!) will most likely have to be in black and white, greyscale so a lot of the subtlety of 24 in particular will be lost (I'm particularly happy with the way the lighting of the stage and the lighting of the audience is distinctly and noticeably seperate). Hopefully the story and the art will stand on its own. Unless I win the lottery, the price of putting out a color comic is too far beyond even my well-refunded means.
Once I get a few issues out, though, I'm going to apply for a Xeric grant for a color collection. Until then, a polite pointing to the website and a reminder that it's there twice a week for free and in full color will hopefully be enough.
Anyway, you and IL have been supporting me from the beginning so you know GC #1 will be in your mailboxes signed and sketched for free. Don't even sweat that.
Keep reading, guys. I vow to try my hardest not to disappoint. |
