Persephone (and others): It isn't so much about the news being parodied in ST, but, I was thinking anyway, how the entire movie Po the evening news since 9-11. In other words, how are the themes in ST a Po to our world of late? In other words, maybe drop the degrees of seperation idea and think about it more as Grant has stated!

Where I'm stuck is on the idea that what was in Starship Troopers is basically identical to what's we've got post-911. Now I'm being gloomy and exaggerating... obviously bugs from outer space aren't sending giant asteroids hurtling through space to destroy my home town--
