I'll be there, looking cute and behaving charmingly, as usual...

If I get there 9.30, tenish, will you still be sozzled but recognise me?

I'm really looking forward to this, though I may have to practice tenebrous huggles with a pillow full of razor blades. It'll be good to see you all.

Lilith: How could I fail to recognise you!

Will probably go looking for the Odeon in Swiss Cottage as they are the only cinema in the country playing Frida, and will head down after.

Well, bugger, it looks like I may have to shoot off early-ish after all... Not too early though - but have we established what time the earliest, keenest drinkers will be there? Add an hour to that and I'll see you there.

Yeah, but what time??? I have a class until 1pm and I probably won't be able to be there 'til 1:30 or 2, but what time?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

I'll probably not be down till around 4... and I've just realised how dangerous it is going to a Barbe-meet a couple days after payday that's within spitting distance of a comic shop...

08:48 / 27.03.03
Please correct me someone if I am wrong, but I think initially Lurid said Sixish and Stoatie has said he'll be around from 4ish so Cherry if you turned up at around 5ish you'd either be fashionably late or fashionably early - your pick

Not sure what time I'll be able to drop by, depends what the world throws at me between now and then, looking forward to seeing you all though.

angel- you're probably right, as you so often are . I'm probably gonna be there from 4-ish anyway, just cos... hmm. I'm not sure.
Oh yeah- I'm gonna catch me some shoppin'.
Surely anytime a Barbeloid turns up is fashionable, n'est-ce pas ?

Cool. I'm going to be able to make this after all. I guess I needn't have spent all that time making my Barcelona application video. What a waste of three perfectly healthy goats.

Have asked in the Pl for the upstairs, but the staff thought (tho' they seemed unsure) that it's gonna be full of Freemasons or whoever. So can whoever gets there first grab a big table and save us from fighting for space and seats all night? Ta! (Wasn't that Kerouac's advice, "get a big table"?!)

You guys are presumably going to be there until chucking-out time, yes? If so I'll stroll by at around 6ish, as I'll be spending the afternoon studying my namesake at the Royal Academy (on which subject, I don't know if anyone has noticed, but this chap bears an uncanny resemblance to Colin Powell).

That was an ace night. Lovely to see MC and LA, lovely to see everyone else and, indeed, to finally meet cosmicjamas (even though SHe thought we were accusing her of being a Freemason for, like, AGES).

Two Barbe-meets in two days, though- that's a bad idea. My head, liver, and general demeanour tell me so.

It needs to be stated categorically, once and for all; British Summer Time is not my fault!

Was walking back to Tottenham Court Road tube at about the same time the Finch concert at the Astoria ended, Bill Posters seemed rathe rput out when I told him he couldn't take one of the young fans home to keep as a pet. (At the time it was a lot funnier and less creepy than it seems now).

Was the missing handbag ever found?

It was a shame SFD couldn't make it. But as ever the wonderful Anna, BiP, Angel, Stoatie, Haus ("Ivanova is NOT gay!") and whoever it was that grabbed me and said they had expected me to look like Brian Molko and then seemed to disappear before I could talk to them (I was beginning to get hungover on the sugar from the crap coke so things started to get a bit weird at this point).

Enjoy Barcelona Lurid and Mordant!

Yeah whatever you say Dr. Who!

I'm totally wrecked today and I'm still at work, their taking the piss now looks like I'm going to miss Smallville and Simply Red are on the radio, it's like some strange kind of hell.

Nother good night though, so many people!

Good luck in Spain!

Hey Stoatie - I was merely working on the previous postings on this thread that had expected the upstairs bar to be occupied by Masons! Evidently it's perfectly cool to go bounding up to a group and say "Hi, are you Barbelith?!" but I was positive I was NOT going to do that, so by a process of hints and clues I was trying to get you, Bill, Bear and Flowers to identify yourselves! Hope work goes OK tonight.

BTW I asked about Finch when I got home, BF has recently downloaded some of their music (not quite sure I want to listen to it...) but they are quite highly regarded apparently!

Things got a bit frantic after 7.00pm tho' so Hi to anyone who I never got to speak to, I am the muddy blonde wearing a Chaos t-shirt and a denim jacket who was at the centre of the two tables with my back against the wall!

A good night tho' and hope to make it to the next one. Enjoy Barcelona youse two, buy a season ticket to the Gaudi museum if you can, and the Ramblas is highly overrated IMO!

Yes it was nice evening altho the stoat maoster and I should've left
the first time.
No the missing handbag was not found. I think Mel is feeling quite
bitter about barbolithomaniac gatherings.
And it was me who stopped you Mr.Nothing of the flowers- I didn't
really expect you to look like molko, but I did expect you and
ms.Bengali to be drag queens.
So did we all learn a lesson here? Yes. Don't have a handbag which
is too good looking.

Oy Plums, are you paying attention? I think the bar for the next Barbe-meet has just been raised, though I really don't do drag queen, as I end up looking like Terry Jones in Monty Python's Flying Circus... "Oooooh! I've wet 'em!"

Er, excuse my drunken ignorance of events, but a handbag went from the PL? Sorry, whoever lost it. Has someone been in recently to check it hasn't turned up?

Lovely to see those of u I got to talk to, and my apols where necessary for being a. exhausted and b. having to go early. Seems especially ironic that I didn't get to talk properly to the Lurid one, but so it goes. Good luck in Barcelona, you crazy kids!

P.S. Is it really a Bad Thing to have developed a mass barbiecrush on all the Finch fans? They were such pretty, pretty thingsss....

Handbag: Belonged to Mel who is well, Mel. Looked like a pink round
vanity case with a '50's style pin-up babe and a bit of scroll saying
"Femme Fatale". Was under the table but seems to have vanished
mysteriously. The bar knows, the cops know, the shadow knows.

Can we have a Barbelith picnic in the summer in the park?

Yeah, I called her yesterday. Apparently there wasn't anything too important in it. And she knows it wasn't any of us, cos no-one left before her.
(But that was why I got so worried when meme couldn't find his little computer thingy- I thought someone had turned us all over.)
I blame the masons, personally. They were probably miffed about not having the upstairs room.

That's incredibly shitty about the bag, bastard bastard thief.

Can we have a Barbelith picnic in the summer in the park

Yes yes yes. Lada and I have been going on about this for ages. Primose hill, regents park. yumyums. and camden if the weather turns. easy.

And lilly dear, while Lada looks *fabulous* in a skirt, inspiring barbecrushes where ze swishes, I dread to think what I'd look like as a drag queen

King, perhaps...

That was great, much real chatting finally with lovely mordant and lurid, and millions of people. And tagging on along with Ghadis, for what turned into somewhat of a lost weekend... i never learn, do i?

I started the First World War? Sheeeesh, sorry.

Seriously Tez, no need to be paranoid, like I said, I have a strange interest in matters WWI. This is a link to the film version of Journey's End, that play I was banging on about. I think I obsess about this play because it's basically about me: a clueless, overprivilaged posho who simply can't get used to the fact that war is simply not cricket.

Thanks for the link, by the way.

May I recommend the early Lord Peter Wimsey novels, my good sir? Being as they're centred on a clueless aristo with an academic/old copies of Catallus bent blah blah blah who is concerned that catching criminals
/solving mysteries is simply not crickkket...

Whose Body in particular might well provide much roman a clef amusement.

also darling peter is far posher/overpriviliged than you'll ever be, sweetness.

I have the perfect outfit, not quite geometric but a matching top and skirt with a lovely late 30's pattern adorning the silk. I simply must acquire a hat, perhaps we had better make that sparkling white wine? I'm not quite sure what the appropriate drink is for such an occasion but a quick glance at my little book of manners and it should all be fine. Perhaps someone with a better education could enlighten me?

Croquet, magnificent, I'm sure I'll pick it up in no time. Naturally all that footwork screams for the perfect shoe. One can't help but wonder what it is, a small heel perhaps, a bright colour to call appropriate attention to the ankle.
