I recently had a strange experience that totally fucked with my everyday ideas of time and wake and dream in a really sexily intriguing way--
So a little while ago i began leaving a tape recorder on my nightstand in case i had any interesting dreams that i wanted to remember but didn't have the time or was too lazy to write down at that moment. I just got around to typing up one of the first dreams i recorded on that tape and things were eerified.
firstly, before i typed up the taped dream, i typed up a more recent dream that something had just reminded me of (I'm not giving you total summaries of these dreams because that would just be long and unnecessary). I then proceeded to the taped dream. listening to myself say what happened in that dream, i realized a number of things. first, this dream was aware that is was going to be/had been taped--i talked about 'a letter in an envelope that had been taped back so that it was smaller'--and there was a strange chain of communication: in the dream, there was an envelope taped with masking tape that i was in the process of sending, then there's me taping my dream, then there's me 'opening' my taped 'letter'. now, i don't always tape my dreams, so it couldn't necessarily be counted on that i would tape this one. but i did, and it knew i would. was the envelope a subliminal reminder to tape my dream? is there a cause-and-effect here that I'm not seeing?
second, and this is a little stranger, the taped dream made pretty specific references to the dream that i had typed up just before. remember that that dream, D1, had happened chronologically after the taped dream, D2, and I didn't even tape D1, i had just been reminded of it. in D1 I had woken (in my dream) next to a christmas tree wearing red, and in D2, I am kneading clay, and as a thought about christmas comes up, i feel a red sock. my dreams do NOT normally refer to one another and usually have very little in common, with a few exceptions, and it has never been so specific and synchronous.
D2 also communicated a lot to me about, well, communication, and methods of how to break through. it's like a powerful being (that may very well be me) is looking me straight in the eyes, telling me a few things to freak me out and make sure it has my attention, and then giving me the low down on some things i've been curious about.
now what i want to know is, what kind of strange loops have you guys gone through? can you induce them the way an experienced lucid dreamer can induce consciousness in dreams? because it was freaky in a way that i want more of. are these experiences hallmarks for something? it reminds me a little of what happened to Dane in the invisibles with barbelith. I--ohhhhh. so that's what you guys are here for. |
