Queer as Folk 2 - worth buying

OK, so I found QaF 1 in a charity shop on DVD yesterday, and found myself utterly gripped - ended up having the whole series playing on my PC while I worked. Is QaF 2 as good? Should I plow on?

I prefer series 1. Series 2 is short but still quite good, a bit quirkier, definitely has its moments. It doesn't really need to exist though- you can take 1 completely on its own and the last scene on Canal Street's a bit erm... silly. I'm definitely a series 1 enthusiast.

I have a hard time keeping the two distinct in my head, because I didn't catch series 1 until it was repeated around the time of series 2. But I do remember really liking the end, and also there's at least two great sequences between Aiden Gillen and people's mums. Yeah, buy it, what else were you going to spend the money on?

The end of QaF2 is the best five minutes of television ever made, and the rest of it is pretty fucking brilliant as well. If you can imagine something like QaF 1 but (a) one league better and (b) ending with the greatest ever slash line (slash! In a gay series! Who could imagine it?), then you can imagine QaF2: but you can't, so you should go and buy it.

The last line is something like "There are many stories about Vince and Stuart. All of them are true." - right? Neil Gaiman would love it. Possibly. I really liked the whole "Nathan became king of the world" bit, especially after you've had Stuart realising the limitations of that role - some people thought the whole 'passing the mantle' thing was a bit cheesy, but not me.

"Many rumours". I have a t-shirt with that final image of them with the Liberator Photoshopped into the sky behind them saying "There are many rumours about Avon and Blake: all of them true" which I wear to cons.
