Awwwww. Abiogenesis Press is doing a tribute to Alan Moore for his upcoming 50th birthday. All proceeds to go to the Alzheimer's Disease Int'l.

The contributors to the volume read like a who’s who of the comics industry, new and old, and include specially created comic strips, illustrations, essays, anecdotes, stories, poetry and personal recollections from: Michael Moorcock, Iain Sinclair, Darren Shan, Brad Meltzer, John Coulthart, Neil Gaiman, Dave Gibbons, Bryan Talbot, David Lloyd, J H Williams III, Kevin O'Neill, Will Eisner, Howard Cruse, James Kochalka , Adam Hughes, Peter Kuper, Jose Villarubia, Jimmy Palmiotti, Rick Veitch, Michael T. Gilbert, Steve Parkhouse, Nabiel Kanan, Bill Koeb, Rich Koslowski, Trina Robbins, Michael Avon Oeming, Sean Phillips, Jeff Smith, Sergio Toppi, Giorgio Cavazzano, Claudio Villa, Daniel Acuna, Willy Linthout, Jean-Marc Lofficier, Eduardo Risso, Dave Sim, Ben Templesmith, and Dylan Horrocks among others.

And this just made me giggle:

So many good reasons I want to pick this up if it's available for us Yanks. I'm curious to know what people's first exposure to Moore was. It was his Swampy days for me.

There appears to be one name conspicuously absent from that list...

WHAT!?!?! You dare to blacklist the creator's creator, the innovator, the mad Scottsman who's full of flavor?! An insult to all Barbelonians and fans of Grant Morrison everywhere!

But seriously man, put who you want in the book.

We've had threads about the apparent Morrison/Moore animosity before. You can find them somewhere around here, but I'm ot about to go looking for them. Apparently Grant made fun of Alan's beard when they were both in pre-school, or something.

(Whatever happened to Morriosn Moore, disgraced former Earl of Dunkirk, or whatever?)

not really that much of an omission. the only other work-for-hire style writer there is gaiman, an old friend of moore's. stranger omissions are bissette and delano. and strange inclusions are dave sim. i know they're mates but seriously, fuck that guy.

What about Redondo?

Where he?

I'm sure he did a future shock or two for the hairy droid.

Dylan Horrocks is currently doing (bad - well, it was last time I looked) work-for-hire.
