I'd heard that Blair's been sourcing a fairly wide range of legal opinion on going ahead without a UN resolution - but has been strangely silent about this. Mysterious, no?
Got this from the Guardian website:
At question time yesterday Mr Blair said: "We do not do anything as a country that does not have a proper legal basis to it."
which can mean pretty much anything he wants it to mean. It just seems to be more last minute justification tactics - having lost all the arguments against going to war he seems to be falling back on the "Well at least it's legal" position. Which is no justification at all. |
