Hello and help!

You know those common phrases logic questions... like

"26 = L of the A" (26 Letters of the Alphabet)
"24 = BB (B in a P)" (24 Blackbirds (Baked in a Pie))

Well, I have a list of 94 of them, I am stuck on one! I have them all but ONE!!! It's infuriating... please help if you can:

"7 + 7 + 2 = N M"

It is the only one with more than one number, or any symbol other than the = sign. I really doubt that you are supposed to just add the numbers together, they are significant for some reason. I am lost now tho - have been looking for toooo long!

Thanks for all your help in advance!

D

(PS: Don't think it's anything to do with New Moons, the moon cycle is 28 days (or 13 a year) - so two weeks and a weekend doesn't help there!)

Okay - not completely confident about this, but when I was in maths class I remeber doing averages. There were three, mean, median and mode. We'd get a list of numbers and have to work out the three different averages based on the rules for each. The shorthand for mean average after getting this list of numbers (and data in general) is NM for Nearest Mean - as in the nearest integer.

First thing I thought when I saw it was maybe some sort of sport, can't think of any sports that have 7 players though?

Let us know if you find out for sure though.

Yes please, do tell us if you find out - I've been puzzling over it all morning. I obviously don't have enough work to do.

I'll be sure to tell you when I find out... Ariadne - you wait until you've been puzzling over it for a week! (alright, 2 days)

Jub - hmmm, hadn't thought of that. But I think the numbers are more significant than that.

Keep thinking peeps!!

Here's a few easier ones to try while you think:
200 = P for P G in M
6644 = DDL
1 = M W T M a M

Is that last one at all related to:
50 W T L Y L?

1 Point for Jub.

Any idea on the other two yet peeps?

Clues: The 200 one has something to do with money and 6644 is a date

The date one's stumped me, but I reckon the other one is 200 = Pounds for Passing Go in Monopoly.

Both correct... you guys are good at this - maybe I should post the whole lot somewhere for download.

Mind you, nobody appears good enough to get the damn 7 7 2 one

actually, I think you were right to begin with. If you're counting days from the Full Moon, the New Moon comes on the night between the 15th and 16th days.

Netball Match? Two teams of 7 with two scorers, I think.

I'd like to thank Bear for the assist, and my parents for having me, and...etc

Some good suggestions, but I'm not convinced. Netball Match is possible, but you could probably fit 7 7 2 to any number of things, I think it's more signif.

Ahh well

I think maybe Gridley's right. Makes sense, and means we don't have to feel stupid for not finding an alternative. A victory for all!

Do the numbers refer to the answers to questions 7 and 2?

I am assured by a work colleague that it is indeed Netball Match .

2 teams of 7 and 2 referees/scorers. I tried arguing that it sounded vague and was told firmly : "No. It's the answer."

So there you go. Apparently.

Well, you've confirmed my suspicions that over the years a cocktail of drugs and alcohol has melted my brain. I used to be fucking brilliant at these when I was at school. I didn't get any of these ones.
