I think this is the cover for two, actually. Looks great, though. Slightly fucked up qualitywise.

Regrettable Juvenilia

That is an *incredible* cover. Cooke just gets better and better, doesn't he? He needs to do some kind of ongoing noir story...

The Falcon
13:31 / 19.02.03
Yup.

Cooke with Allred inks on Catwoman was... guhhh-reattt.

I think this is replacing X-Statix for the month, as there's no May solicitation.

Regrettable Juvenilia

Four pages preview at PopCultureShock.

God, Darwyn Cooke is good - he's up there with people like Bond and Quitely for me now. The tone of this is so brilliantly specific - I hear the 'Pink Panther' tune in my head when I look at it. And the "politically correct" gag - kiss me, Milligan, you ingenious fool.

For the sake of precision wolverine doop is taking the place of xstatix for two months (its a two issue series)-- waaaah i don't wanna wait a quarter of a year for the next issue of xstatix - one month is already too long!

The Natural Way

Darwyn Cooke does indeed rule with the best.

The Falcon
02:19 / 02.05.03
Mr. Sleaze, I think this is fortnightly. Thus and therefore, effectively bonus X-Statix related acksheunn.

Very cool, got this yesterday. So what do you all think?

SPOILERS!!!

Is the Mink controlling both Prof. X and the guy who owns X-Statix? Notice the outline of Prof. X's telepathic thought balloon was pink.

Here's your Doop translator folks.

You're going to fucking need it.

I couldn't find mine earlier when trying to read this, so it was a bit annoying.

I love the art, bt the story just isn't gelling for me. Maybe it's because it seems like a kids version of Wolverine, or maybe I'm just not getting it, but Wolverine is so out of character it feels like the story was written with some other character in mind and they subsituted Wolverine for the sales bump.

It's a shame, really, because it could easily have been a lot more fun if Wolverine was either done closer to his actual characterization...or even an "over-the-top" version instead of the version they are trying for here.

bump

So... has anyone else read issue 2?

There was some fun stuff... a little play on what's fictional and such but I'dunno . . . Milligan's writing hasn't left me this cold since . . .

GIRL.

Art was fine, very enjoyable 4 sure... I'll have to read the 2 issues back 2 back and rethink my feel for it.
