So we've got the funniest new animated series since Futurama on MTV of all places and, well, it's all about clones of famous people growing up in a government controlled high school. The main characters are Abe Lincoln, Joan of Arc, JFK, Cleopatra, and Ghandi (anyone sensing the deliciously grisly connection?. It's that last one that's caused some citizens of India to go on a hunger strike, not having actually seen the show, but figuring that this depiction of Ghandi as an ADD addled teenager whose catchphrase is an indelible "SAY WHAAAAAT?" (but, granted, most reports about the strike intimate that they haven't even gotten this in depth with the show) was some serious desecration.
Anyone else seen it? It's actually pretty brilliant for the way (among other things) that it portrays each clone's struggle to come to grips with their predestined potential. They each live with wackily mismatched foster parents (G-Man's, for example, are practicing Jews) and each week they learn a little something about life (in another "Very Special" episode). So, yeah, it's pretty much my favorite new show and showing all the time on MTV.
But here's the weird part, post-hunger strike, you can no longer access any info on the show on mtv.com.
Weiiiiiiird....
