London - Citibank Prize

The exhibit of the four contenders entries for this esteemed photography prize is currently showing at the Photographers Gallery just off Charing Cross Road. Having seen the exhibition I highly reccomend that all that can see it do and would like to suggest a meet in one of the coming weekends.

The four photographers in the running are:
Bertien van Manen
Juergen Teller
Simon Norfolk
Jitka Hanzlova

Which is a very promising selection and the exhibits are quite compelling.

Wanna go see?

We can go drink beer afterwards.

Yeah, it will be free.

I'd be quite up for this, want to see the show for sure... am pretty hectic for the next couple of weekends... how long's it on for?

It usually is, I think. I'd be quite into this, maybe next Sunday? Saturday is booked up with peacenik action.

It runs until the 22nd of March when the winner will be announced.

Back to the top with a suggestion of two weeks from yesterday. For the septonumerologically challenged amongst us that would be Sunday the 2nd of March.

Oh oh oh, would like to see this and might be around for a birthday but I'm not sure yet.

Count me in, I've checked that I'm not in work that day, so I'm definitely up for it.

Anna, is that a yes to the 2nd?

As close to a yes as I can get at the moment in this period of changing and worrying uncertainty of location.

I think I'll be up for the 2nd.

(Do we like Citibank, BTW? Shall we fuck shit up*, at all, or are we just gonna go along like normal punters?)

* That's a suggestion of non-illegal semiotic subversion, not anything naughty, just in case any officers of the law reading this are worried.

While Citibank are indeed an incredibly large multi-national corporation who's main objective is owning every single one of your shiny nickles, the Citibank Prize is something of a diversion from form.

While people like BP pull such blatant PR moves as the Wildlife Photographer Award, Citibank genuinely reward dedication, creativity, innovation and artistic integrity. It's like the Turner Prize for photography without all of the hand-jobs.

You may disagree with their business policies but this is one thing that truly deserves support and recognition.

Fair enough, then we shall behave our little selves.

That's just my opinion and stems from a photographers point of view. If you feel the need to fuck shit up then you should go right ahead. I think it's a protected right in the Human Rights Charter.

I suggest that we meet somewhere close about 3pm and then head down there.

The Cafe Nero at Seven Dials would be ideal for this.

OK, definitely can't do this now as am back on the 13th and the 28th of March for things of a more fangirl nature.

Do you want to change the date, does anyone else?
