Prediction: Promethea will be found guilty of hitting that poor Weeping Gorilla, without provocation, way back at the start of the series. He was just sitting there, the poor thing, hurting nobody…when some science-hero comes along and beats him up…
Actually, the incident probably won’t even be brought up… Weeping Gorilla is probably thought of as fair game, just because he’s an introspective, sensitive soul. Make no mistake, Might Makes Right in this world…people just like to imagine they’re caring, altruistic types…but in the end, if you’re not powerful or healthy or happy then people would really prefer if you went off somewhere else and killed yourself…quietly, so that their good mood isn’t disturbed.
…it’s just not fair.
(*sniff*)
Actually, on my computer screen, it looks as if Weeping Gorilla is not brushing away a tear, but is in fact picking his nose. An idea for a whole new comic-book character? Nose-Picking Gorilla could be introduced as Weeping’s cousin, and then spin off into his own series… It’d probably be very successful.
…end up being more successful than its parent comic-book… and then Weeping Gorilla Comics would end up being cancelled, probably…
…Nose-Picking Gorilla would avoid his cousin, then. He’d be pleasant enough whenever they bumped into each other, but he’d always have some excuse why they couldn’t get together for a night out, or why the time wasn’t right for a Nose-Picking Gorilla/ Weeping Gorilla team-up comic… No one likes to get too near to failure…
(*sigh*)
chesed: And what are talking about Thelemic subliminals
When I first glanced at the cover, I thought the ABC logo read “America’s BEAST comics”. (I know, it’s a stretch…)
chesed: now I'm wondering what ever happened to Anna's half-fiction baby?
Is it possible that the baby became Little Margie? I’ve never been quite sure how Margie fits into the Promethea lineage. If she’s Anna’s kid, maybe she somehow became an eternally childish reflection of her fictional mom and her fictional mom’s adventures. It’d explain why she’s always with the Promethea gang – they’d feel a maternal responsibility towards her.
impulsivelad: Well, Sherlock Holems, Ganesh, and Baron Munchausen were on the moon river boat (and now they're all here.) Also that guy waving his fist in the air, isn't that Sophie's dead relative? The one who wrote the river book?
...And I remember the Wolf, Red Riding Hood, and Weeping G. appearing in Sophie's first visit to the Immateria. That looks like the magician-fellow that Sophie defeated with the sword of analysis; and there's the Muslim Promethea from last ish. When did Santa and the Gorgon appear in the comic, though?
...Solomon's crown/ hat looks kind of sexual...(I think it's The Filth fucking with my perceptual filters.)
Weeping G -- that's going to be my DJ name.
(Could be my porno name, too. ...Sorry, Filth disrupting my thinking again.) |
