A Real World Ghost Story

I got this from The Dadaist two weeks ago, who authorised me to translate it and put it here upon my suggestion, cos' you don't wanna miss it guys. Its David Lynch goes with Robert Blake on vaccation and write down an unconcluded film script.

Last week one of my best friends went to Mardel (a city on the coast) with his girl. The last three days things became interesting and chilling. My friend started sensing that in the hotel room there was something, a kind of energy or presence, it was difficult for him to explain. One day he had one of his recurring dreams, one in which atop of a castle there is a face laughing and as the pace of the laughing becomes faster also the clouds above the castle move faster. Now comes the most interesting part. After awakening from this dream he stayed awake with eyes closed and began to see images. He said they were not continuous, becuase each time he opened his eyes they dissappeared, and each time he closed them they continued. He said that by putting together all the images something was forming, some sort of sequence that was as follows: in the hotel bathroom there was a woman taking a bath, a woman he always sees from behind her. He said she had a very pale skin, and long red, curling hair.

From behind the woman appeared a dark haired man, giving his back to him, that oushes the girl and makes her hit the wall's tile work. My friend started trembling besides his girlfriend, and she asked him if there was anything going on. He said that nothing, and his girlfriend asked back: did you see that pale woman with red hair?? My friend became paralyzed, and his girlfriend told him she had just dreamt with that woman, who was right now inside a gray car with someone else at the hotel's door, and that she had stared into her with surprise. None of them could sleep again. The next day my friend goes to the bathroom and sees that where the girl hits the wall in his vision there is a crack. On that very moment the phone rangs and his girlfriend picks up the call and a voice says: "Is there...? (can't remember the name, a man's name)". The voice insisted with the name, and finally said it was himself who wanted to talk with himslef and he hung up. When they went down for breakfast, my friend's girlfriend went pale while staring at someone in the hotel's lobby: it was the man with the red haired woman in the dream. The man went in and left without doing anything else. She had never seen him before.

Later back in the room the phone rangs again and a voice that was not from the hotel's personnel tells my friend: "Tomorrow at nine, you have visits", and my friend asked from whom, because he didn't knew anybody there and no friends or relatives were nearby, and the voice kept saying: "Tomorrow at nine, I don't know who it is".

The next day they both went downstairs at that time and nobody showed up. The people from the hotel said they had never told him such a thing. Moreover all this, in those days the number 9 started showing up to both of them millions of times, playing cards, in the street, everywhere. They stopped playing due to fear. My friend had another vision in which a woman he never gets to see says to him: "Full ladder, you son of a bitch!" and pushes him. And he had many dreams with dices and full ladders. My friend was dying of fright. His girlfriend kept telling him that in the room there were things that were bad, in the mirrors, in the bathroom, in everything. And my friend also sensed it.

Gah. It's more like a Thomas Ligotti story, the name of which I can't remember offhand. Characters in it are pieces of a greater being that terrorizes them. Brrrr.

As I told Dadaist, what most caught my attention is that both boy and girl seem to have beaconed this. Probably we've all been through experiences in which a "mass" effect -for sake of better terms- from two or three special people getting together attracts the paranormal.

But the morbid factor in the story is worthy of noting, since at least I've had "mass" experiences verging in morbidity and also those that were splashes of magickal glee. In both situations I, or we, were perfect puppets of the paranormal, just like in the story, although some you really don't want to even think about, while others remain as the most distinctively perfect and happy memories of interacting with the invisible beyond. Apologies for the lyricism, but that's the way it was.

Man, that was a great story. Did your friend or the girlfriend ask the hotel personnel if someone had ever died in that room? Maybe someone with the name the mysterious caller mentioned? I mean, I know it's easy being all mulder and scully after the fact but they could still call the hotel and ask. I wasn't clear on one thing, though. Did the redhead and guy at the entrance and lobby seem like ghosts or were they alive? Cause maybe your friends didn't have a vision of a ghost or an attack in the past but they could have very well been getting visions of the future. (Note: Like I said I wasn't too clear on that part so they could've been ghosts.)

The pics made the story creepier. That was a nice touch.

Dadaist will reply later Imp, but from what I read I think they saw them as pretty real people, not ghostly-like. I've seen myself twice people who shouldn't have been there, but that's another story. And by the way, I have been seen about three times in places I was not, and also not ghost-like, and although the witnesses were not drunk, they were a bit excited.

There are one or two stories or reports from people that stayed at hotels for a night to later learn that they had slept at a hotel that had been closed for decades. Here is one, summarised by Jenny Randles, the ufologist, from an on-line article titled Time Travelers:

However, there are a few rare cases where people claim to have spent long periods of time living in the past. In the claims of two Kent couples (the Simpsons and the Gisbys) - whom I have met - they believe they stayed overnight in a hotel that does not seem to have existed since the early 20th century. They did so on an overnight drive near Montelimar, France in 1979 and interacted with, over many hours people apparently from that time (including a policeman who did not recognise the French word for motorway!).

That touch about the policeman is nice.

An interesting clue from many of these time slip cases is that witnesses refer to the weather conditions as being odd. Their descriptions are consistent with a large amount of electricity being in the atmosphere, generating a heavy oppressive air and a tingling of the skin.

Kind of like PKD's time shift from 1974 to the 1st century CE. (Sorry, I've been combing through his exegesis.)
