Altering a thread title?

How can moderators do this? Or people propose a change to the title of a thread that they have started? Because I've majorly fucked up a Conversation thread title here and I would like to know what the procedure is.

Go into the thread in question. At the bottom left of the page (any of the pages in the thread) there's a link called 'Modify Topic'. Click on it and you'll get taken to a similar page to the 'Modify Post' link. Changing the thread title is the second (I think) option you'll be given. Remember to check the correct option box when you do it.

The 'Modify Topic' link is only visible to moderators, by the way. If someone who isn't a moderator wishes to alter the title or abstract of a thread they need to contact the correct forum moderators.

Can I ask for thread titles to be included in what a moderator sees when they get a request for change? We seem to get everything else except this piece of information...

Do you not count as a moderator for topics you start, then? Because you count as a moderator for your own posts....

Nope. You have no power to moderate the title or topic abstract of a thread, unless you are a moderator, even if you started it.

Oh, God, no. Seriously, dude, this is a bad idea. Remember the bad l' dayas when somebody could delete *their entire topic* in a fit of pique? Screw that....things get rubber-stamped in moderation too often for this to be wise.

On a related note, I've found that you can't edit a title and abstract simultaneously. Now admittedly, the chances of needing to do this are rare, this is the first time I've needed to do it and it was my 'Edge of Darkness' thread, but I can see this being hypothetically useful at some point in the future, say if someone gave a thread a crap title and no abstract. Is there any way that we can change both in one moderation request rather than two?

Is it possible to give everyone the "Moderate title" and "Moderate topic abstract" options for their own threads, and just leave out the "Delete Thread" option?

(As a side note, IIRC thread deletion used to happen more by accident than by design. A glitch in UBB software kills a whole thread if you delete the first post.)
