Anyone playing this?

It blows the PC version away. I am curious on what experiences people have had with this version. One of my sims was abducted by aliens..I murdered a whole neighbourhood and now the ghosts haunt the murderer at night...and I asked DEATH to spare one Sim by playing paper, rock,scissors...I lost but DEATH was generous enough tolet her live...as a GREEN SKINNED ZOMBIE!!

How about you?

that all sounds rather like Sims + one of the expansion packs, can't remember which one but it was the first

Have just been given this to review for one of the places that (kinda) employs me. It'll be my second go around with the Sims in a week - my first was last weekend, playing marathons sessions of The Sims Online as I had to review it, as well. Thought that one was shite, so it would be nice if the PS2 one is better.

But it still won't be as good as Metroid: Prime.

Yeah-- the ghosts were already around in the first Sims game ('twas the work of a moment to get rid of the pool ladder and thus drown a couple of unfortunate bathers, I might add). The Zombie deal sounds like an expansion pack extra.

Ummm... so I've heard. *cough*

What did you think was wrong with TS:O?

TSO boils down to little more than a chat program that costs $50 to buy into and $10 per month to use. The build interface is lame and the emphasis on cash and beauty that the game enforces is:
A) weird and creepy
and
B) not very condusive to interesting play or allowing people to express through Sim in an interesting way.

There's stuff that'll fix some of this coming down the pipe (supposedly) but as it stands, it's a waste of time.

You can read the whole thing in PCZone sometime soon...

still love + play the pc version - basic + livin it up exp. pack is my preferred set-up ...

on-line sounds a bit disappointing :-(~

haven't seen the ps2 version yet BUT have heard that it's goal-driven with levels and stuff ... i'd be interested to hear how the interface works on a joypad and what differences the 'goals' idea makes ...

The game is 10x better than the pc...graphics wise. The joystick interaction is suprisingly better. The goals allow you to "get a life"...advancing career etc.

Dig: Sims + GTA = videogaming greatness. Yes?

No doubt, and given the success of both, I can't imagine that it'll be too long before we see such a thing.

I'd play, at least for a minute. That would be a much better online experience.

I've been loath to buy the Sims on the pc cos someone told me you can't get it to work with XP. Anyone know if this is true, cos I really wanna get it.

Given that XP is the best-selling OS out there, I find that highly unlikely. Google didn't turn up anything about it, but the easiest way would just be to look at the specs on the box - it'll be pretty specific...

And even if there is a problem, there'll be a patch on the official site to fix it.

I'm loathe to have anything to do with the game simply because of the way EA have released it. Each of the expansion packs could easily have been released as individual patches, and the fact that they're charging £20 each time is only slightly less astonishing than the fact that people keep on buying them.

Sims + XP = good. I've played it and it works fine. I fail to see the attraction though, I played it for about a day and thought "that's nice".

Can someone who plays it a lot tell me why they still do?

I did read this review of The Sims: Online and found out that your Sim can earn money as a telemarketer.

Damn, it really is like real life!

I have to admit, The Sims has always given me the royal creeps. I always get the feeling that if I installed it those little virtual bastards would be doing things behind my back.

I could totally get into SimCity 4, but it won't run on my tired old computer. Crud.

Ahh, I took the plunge. It works fine on XP. And it's the Sims Deluxe, which includes the first expansion, so I get the Grim Reaper/zombie thing too! Cool!

Just one question- do zombies have to go to school? Cos mine won't.
