On the Duckie thread in Gathering the throbbing frontal lobes of Ganesh described the event as "Post-Gay". As I barely have an understanding of what constitutes post-modern, I certain can't suss this out.

So far my tiny little brain has come up with that it may be a descriptor for a state of being occuring after being gay, but as I understand it gay is a non-recindive/non-recessive state and thusly I have determined that this is unlikely to be the case. I'm curious, what does this mean?

Aw, Potus, don't put yourself down like that.

No matter what you do, you'll never be as dim as this moron. Rejoice!

I may be wrong but I don't thi-i-ink 'post-gay' has any standard definition. My best guess would be that Duckie is (in a slightly self-consciously tongue-in-cheek way) allying itself along 'queer' rather than 'gay' lines ie. rejecting (what it characterises as) stereotypical gender labels in favour of something less conformist/constricting. I think it's saying it's advanced beyond the 'gay-as-identity' concept rather than homosexuality itself.

If that makes any more sense.

Alternatively, since I've been persuaded that 'gay' has a new meaning entirely divorced from sexual assumptions, it could be advertising itself as 'post-weak' or 'post-pathetic'...

Certainly does although the second definition certainly runs further with the Morrisey tie in.
