hi there, i'm new to this forum. so as an introduction i thought i would start a discussion on dreams....
more or less what is signified in them.

i am 25yrs of age and the dreams i have are getting more and more detailed, also what the content of my dreams seem to becoming with what i can only describe as 'huge'.
what i mean by this is i witness something that is overwheming and fantastic. there is a definate 'cosmic' feel or ambience to what i dream, it usually involves the arrival of wht i desribe as 'vesels' not u.fo's' but 'vessels' strange shaped craft that when i see them in my dream they are so magnificent and overwhelming i still can feel the emotions as i sit and type this message.

what is this about though! anyone had similar experiences, also these days i'm starting to feel a lot more in a sense of prescence, and defeintly happens when i lie down to go to sleep.

am i becoming more sensitive or should i cut dwon on the strange foreign cigarettes i currently have in my flat?

hm - not sure about the whole vessel thing ra, but I too tend to dream more lucidly when stoned. And when dropping off.

I've noticed that in this state you can build up a composite of images such that you can return to it at a later date and add more and more detail... is this what you mean - or were you saying that you think these dreams are somehow external to you? That the `vessels' are separately responsible for these strong feelings you have?

Stop asking us and ask them.

I don't want to form a link that may not exist, but the vessels sound extraordinarily familar to dreams I had between the ages of five and seven(ish). Looking back, it seemed to be an experience that merged dreaming, sleep paralysis and delerium (nearest I can describe: sorry!). Whatever it was took the form of starships that were simultaneously microscopic and vast (I'm talking solar system scale), accompanied by physical sensations in my mouth (my tongue would feel tiny, or suddenly feel as though it was swollen to fill my entire mouth, seemingly "in time" with the dual perception of the starship as huge and tiny). The entire experience crackled with energy that I could feel throughout my body, almost like a throbbing or intense vibration (typing now it sounds like some kind of astral state). The dream was non-narrative and almost non-visual (in the Lovecraft manner, what I was seeing seemed too *big* to be seen), these thoughts were almost downloaded as the closest I could come to understanding what was going on at that age. The final detail I can remember is that the captain of this starship had done something horribly wrong, that somehow endangered *everything.* I remember that I was not seeing things from his perspective, but at the same time I could feel the sensation of the coming cataclysmic event, and feel what he felt about it.

Also their very similar to the dreams the main character has in "The Last Vampire" when she dreams the vessels appear and she also talks to Krishna, if I remember correctly the vessels are used to take people to heaven (or a higher plane). Well at least until the end of the book when it turns out the vessels are owned by aliens who come to Earth to help us fight against Setian Lizard people (I kid you not).

Whatever they sound very intense like Evy has suggested it maybe worth trying to ask the next time you have this dream.

Keep us posted on what happens though, I love hearing other people dreams...

You've reminded me of dreams I had at a similar age (6ish). I would regularly get sick, and in my fevers have a recurring dream. It would always begin with an everyday scene that was trivial, but then a minor event would spiral off into a 'thing' exponentially increasing in size. I had a very vivid, but non-verbal sense of how huge this thing was, and that in the end it would swallow/consume the universe.

no not at all ur not being rude -

u say i ahould ask them - how - this is a dream rembember??

and who am i asking???

i do say i get stoned a lot, but these dreams have happened without any enhancment

and the vessels is only a small part to what i have seen in my dream.

i supposse its the emotion i experience when i see these vessels, its this overwhelming emotion, i decribed it like this:
imagine u awlays wanted to see something, get something, i mean this is ur number one passion, in theses dreams when this emotion occurs it could be related to that feelign u get when u really, really want something...expect u get it.
rarely has happend in my life but i defiently relate these dreams to that emotion although in these deams trhe emotion is still almost untouchable, as in u can't decribe, but if anyhing what i have typed should give ye a beter understanding, well hopefully, from what i have experienced.

i don't know if thses vessels are independant in my dream or theya re supoossed to be symbols

Exp, the changing size vibrating sleep paralysis thing you talk about reminds me of some I used to have when I was very young. I don't recall if fever was involved with it or not, but there was something I felt in contact with that would change size, sometimes overwhelmingly large, and the whole experience vibrated with energy. I've tried to recall what that was all about for years, but only have the sketchiest details of it, other than a high sense of importance about it. Just one of those frustrating mysteries in my life.

i ahve also managed to control what i do in my sleep around 4 tiems in my life

Ask it respectfully to the presence before falling alseep. By "respectfully" I do not mean "flattering". Ask it as if you were talking to an employee in an information desk, with respect, directness and fluency, but as if "it" were something perfectly impersonal. That should do, I don't think you need to lucid dream.

Well, they look like vessels. That's fair enough, so treat them as such: they'll take you somewhere, far away. I'd like to guess that the emotions you derive come from your intuition/memories/precognition/anticipation about that "somewhere". You've been there, or maybe you'll be there, but that's irrelevant. I perfectly relate to that type of emotion. I can only suggest you take it with a grain of salt: stay cool, don't fret, and enjoy the ride.

okay, so before i sleep just concentrate and begin to talk to the presence on more or less an informal but geuine manner?

thats what i feel my dreams are like. i have taken a back seat as i watch these event unfold, i can't really control them and think of whats happened after it has errr...happened!
for example i think the most recent dream about vessels happened late last year.
i am sitting outside on my balcony, it is a beautifull sunny day , i think i am haveing a discussion with someone, or watching the sky(pretty hazy this dream sorry) either way i can hear this loud drone, its one of them sounds i get in dreams, where it is really intense, like an alien noise, like some sound u have never heard in ur life. as i look towrds the sky(as the drone i understand comes from there)

oh wait i remember i'm sitting on a chair while this happens.

all of a sudden i see above all these tiny intrictate dots fly fast right above my balcony, as i concentrate on what i am looking at, these dots beocme more detailed and i see what pretty much looks like a fleet of vessels. or maybe they were getting closer as they flew above, again pretty hazy
i can't remember how many exactly nor can i describe the craft, but i defeintly resognise them as vesels and have dreamed of them before

Weirdsville!
Those dreams you're describing Exp and cusm, sound very similar to dreams I had as a kid - details very sketchy now, but the overwhelming impression was of this huge globular thing coming down out of the sky and me feeling smaller and smaller in relationship to it. I think there was one instance of someone coming out of the ship(?) and talking to me. The dream carried with it some overwhelming emotion - not fear, exactly - nothing I can really describe. Had the dream again a few times in the mid-1980's. On one occasion it was a real 'panic attack' which got me out of bed and down two flights of stairs before I really knew what was going on. Sounds worryingly Fox Mulder-ish, now I think about it.

Barbelith...

Yea, been chewing on that one. Didn't want to mention it yet, but since you bring it up, this would be the way Barbelith operates. Even outside of that, experiences of alien visitors represent a form of awakening or initiation. GM had an alien abduction experience. Terrence Mckenna saw elves. Same sort of thing, when you get down to it. Stimulus from Outside bringing you new information, or possible just breaking some walls you needed to achieve personal growth or understanding on your own.

Either way, I see it all as a positive sign

Yes. You "think" with a voice inside your head, right? Well, I don't doubt at all that the "presence" can listen to that voice, so just talk to it with that voice. If you meddle with words and too many voices inside then start over again, but a simple, short, polite message should do. Make it clear when you start talking and when you're done.

"all these tiny intrictate dots fly fast"

I had an experience similar to this not long ago. They looked like tiny dots very close or huge dots very far away, and they were brighter than white, like stars only this was during the day time, and the dots were moving around very fast like a swarm of insects.

The synchs abound on Barbelith don't they? I was thinking about starting a dream thread myself. I'll get to why in a minute...

little ra: sleep paralysis is something I had for a looooong time. Basically since puberty till recently for me. For me, it was essentially dreaming of "waking up" and your body is in exactly the same position as it is in the physical realm. Except your body can't move at all. It's often a really terrifying experience, with your mind freaking out and you trying desperately to move and not being able too until you wake up. When I was able to move, it was always very slowly and as if my body was underwater. Even my mouth was paralyzed (So I Had No Mouth And I Must Scream and all that...).

This happened to me for a decade or so at least once a week to once a month. Until one night three years ago, I had the same sleep paralysis, the same overwhelming fear- but this time after a monumental effort, I broke out. It felt like breaking ot as well, and I jumped up and down in my bed- kicked the TV, etc. Then two aliens walked through my door. They were definitely Greys- same body proportions and everything- except the shadows made them have inky like skin. I was again terrified, but in classic dream logic, I decided to fight back. So I manifested a gun in my hand and shot one of them through the head. It flew back against my wall and left black stains against it, and crumpled on my floor with it's limbs tangled. The other one simpley turned around and closed the door behind him. I woke up. I haven't had sleep paralysis since then. I can't even get it if I try now.

Now at the the time, I was thrilled. And apparently the whole "alien abduction scenario" is a very common one for sleep paralysis (at least according to the mounds of reading I've done on it...) But the more I get into magick and the more I read threads like "What worlds have you been to?" or "What entities have you worked with?" or this thread especially - I regularly wonder "Fuck. Did I blow it?"

Not to hijack your question little ra, (hell I have plenty of dream questions myself I'd love to ask- as my dreams have been getting very epic and cinematic as of late) but I echo the advice. Ask them. Try to establish a dialougue and find out what they're coming to you for. And it sounds Velveeta cheesy, but don't give in to fear. Cause I don't think I made the right decision.

Did I just sound like the health teacher from Donnie Darko there?

Here's a link on sleep paralysis.

Funny, I was just talking about my last textbook sleep paralysis experience last night. It was the first I'd had since being familiar with some the work that's been written on the phenomenon, and so I was able to overcome my fear and used it as an opportunity to astrally project (which isn't something that I'm sure I entirely believe in, but the "symptoms" of the experience all matched up).

Tower: You may not have missed your opportunity. The first thing I did when I overcame the sleep paralysis was act in a hostile manner, torching the cause of the fear within the dream. However, it was still able to reach out to me from the fire. I realised my mistake and did a dream re-entry later in the day using pseudo-shamanic methods, which interestingly conjured a milder sensation of sleep paralysis (I felt the strange presence, but could still move). I dealt with the situation in a much more mature and respectful manner, and it became one of the most significant experiences of my life, providing me with a resource that I can always use.

Sorry I can't provide more details. My main point is that I had a second chance to sort out my "mistake." See if you can find a method of going back and exploring the experience again (let me know if you don't have a suitable technique and I'll either write something up or find a link). You never know: if the speculation that this is a manifestation of Barbelith contact is correct then you'll get as many chances as you needn (insert alternate name in place of Barbelith if you like).

well thanx a lot guys for the responses they have been more than intersting.
what i found also when reading everyones post, a lot of u refere or relate these dreams to ur childhood.
nothing in life(well for me) beats that feeling when u experience something u have long forgotten about since u were a kid.

i personally get it with music, there is a band called the 'boards of canada' who reflect this best with me, when u hear theyre music it refelects on ur imagination and quickly throws u back to a time when u had electronic sytns soundtracking or mapping ur everyday childhood, this band sound like old seventies films, dash educational films u might have watched when u were at school.

dreams i think have an importance, i personally found i stoppedtrying to write all of them down because for me, i had intense, intricate dreams happen to me so often i felt i would end up burying myself whiel trying to charter and give meaning to what i ahve witnesses when in slumber,

if i experience anyting tontie i will certianlly lett ye all know tomorrow(if i remember!) on what has happened.

cheers guys/gals

I dunno if this belongs on this thread but seeing as you were talking about dreams/barbelith, just wanted to ask what you think of this.

first the background info:

i know barbelith manifests itself ok, according to the overriding belief system of yr culture but as i've had a very irreligious - sorry, more like a-religious - upbringing, i tend to conceptualise it as jack frost first sees it in the invisibles, the large round, planetary red shape.

now, i sigilised for a ' barbelith experience' recently and got a shitload of synchroncities, nothing too explicit, but the most striking was this one.

i woke up early in the morning, thinking i heard sirens and got up to find out what the hell was going on (my neighbourhood is pretty quiet at 6 in the morning, lucky me). but there were no sirens. however, i looked down my hall and flashing through the glass of my front door was a largeish red circle of light. remember that at 6 in the morning i am definitely mostly asleep, even if i'm standing up, and vaguely moving (sluggishly). now, i *know* that there was probably some sort of police car/ambulance/what have you with a light that got magnified somehow through the glass but i had a strong and weird feeling about this and a sensation that i was somehow still dreaming, in a dream-reality if you like. i don't know what anyone will make of this or if i should just stop blabbering but when you were discussing dreams it really resonated with me - reading with gob hanging open and all that.

As for the "bigness" of people's dreams, recently I've also had some very large-scale occurrences. They have simultaneously an apocalyptic and a "saved" (and wonderfully comforting) atmosphere, they are terrifying and yet there is a pervading sense of "everything will be ok". And there are definitely presences. Big, fuck-off presences.

Sweet dreams, y'all.

i have been dreaming since i last posted but when i awake i am too sluggish to try and recall anything, however i wanna kep this thread going so i thought i would refresh some old dreams ihave experienced.
same theme again where something 'spectaculiar' or 'huge' is happening.

let's see where do i start....

okay!
the first time/dream i realised that something big was happening was when i was outside playing in a local school's playground. now it is hard to remember every minute detail but basically as i am playing i look up to the sky and see a pocketfull of stars scattered around the sky, then i begin to feel this sensation all about my body, i can't remember if it is exictment, nerves, scared whatever it is. the night sky begins to spin really fast, i still have this picture in my mind and i remember that only the sky moves at this speed. buildings and playground are still intact.
i begin to run.......thats it! forgot the rest.

the other dreams i'm gonna relate to u were all set in the same environment, i.e, re-occuring from the flat i stay in currently.
these dreams always occured from my viewpoint and always kickin when i am looking out my bedroom window.
thinking about this now, many of the 'huge' dreams seem to have evolved around this dream environment.

these dreams always occured from my viewpoint and always kickin when i am looking out my bedroom window.
thinking about this now, many of the 'huge' dreams seem to have evolved around this dream environment.
one time i look out my window and i see again a vessel, it hovers in the distance and i remember saying to myself - 'at last about time'
i've had more dreams relating with vesels and how i can see them from my window.
one of them i will not forget in a hurry is where i look out my window and enjoying the view, from what i remember i can see a beautifull countryside in the distance or at least there were some greens involved, i.e a field.
a vessel i see in the distance begins to plummet and crashes straight into the field, although this dream is hazy i do remember the detail of the crash, the field gets torn up cos of the impact of the vessel, again that 'feeling' ignites 'cause i can't believe i am witnesing such a 'huge' event from my window.
....and finally the last dream (for now.)
i look out my window(can't remember what i'm doing beforehand) and i notice something very odd and sticks right out of the usual landscape i think i am used to seeing.
there is an island/mountain in the distance, i start to try and concentrate on what i'm looking at but as i do, i realise it is gettign closer. i start to feel scared and intimidated. and when i felt like that when i was younger..would be to kid on i am sound asleep.

.....so i do that!.....i run straight to my bed and fake my sleep. then old faithfull kicks in again and i feel that overwheming way again, i also know that island/mountain is outside, and emotions i'm experiencing in my dream are becoming more intense.
now i don't know why but i leave my bed and fins myself heading down to the stairs of my flat, i don't know if this was me running away??? or confronting the friendly guest who is waiting for me outside.

but it all dissolves and seeing as i haven't talked about that particular dream in a while i'm gonn have to leave it there!

hmmmm!

Oh. My. God. I've just remembered something that happened to me a lot when I was a kid. I'd wake up in the middle of the night absolutely terrified that something was outside my window/door/view and was trying to get to me. I felt that it was some kind of alien presence but put the whole thing down to me reading too much about Alien Abductions. These experiences eventually stopped.

I forgot all about them until just now.

Fucking hell.

i also mentioned this earlier.....

it seems a lot of u reminisced back to forgotten child hood memories. its strange when a moment like that is experienced.
these forgotten emotions seem to be more amplified when we do remember about them and also the fatc that these wee mindfucks have been stored in that universe we call our mind.

It’s interesting to read others moments of sleep paralysis.

I had sleep paralysis for a few years from about 17 to about 20. It was definitely a presence I felt.

Near the end it become very frequent and lasted longer and longer till one night I just went with it. I sort of let the stillness wrap around me until sunk, collapsed and I gained control of it, which is about as well as I can describe it.

I guess once whatever it was realized it couldn’t get fear out of me anymore, it went away. I haven’t had sleep paralysis since.
