Won a couple of tickets to Ali G Indahouse, which premiered a week ago here. I usually peruse the contest of the movie section in my favourite Danish newspaper, and this past Friday it was so easy that I decided to enter the contest -- although I dreamt more of winning the boxershorts or tee than the tickets.

I have previously won a Batman pin, around the time when the first Burton movie premiered.

What have you won?

Nothing much recently. A playstation 2 game, an air freshener, and a book. My luck's been kinda crappy here lately. But, back in '96 or '97, I hit what I thought was the mother lode. I was at a comic book shop's anniversary party, and periodically names would be drawn and you'd be given prizes. Well I got a few comics and a box of cards out of the deal, and thought that was pretty good, but then at the end they drew for the grand prize and I won. What was the grand prize? One of everything in the store. One poster, one action figure, one video game, one back issue comic, one magazine, one box of cards, etc etc.

There was also this big birthday contest at my comic shop, when I still subscribed to some titles. I came away with a silver variant edition of Black Orchid #1 (the ongoing series), but it was shite.

6 years ago, December, me and a friend went to a nearby Statoil store to stock up on junk, my friend bought one scratch lottery coupon and won 5,000 danish crowners.

I once won the sword they used in a local theater's production of Macbeth. It's pretty special to me since it was the first time I'd seen Shakespeare done on stage. That and, while very rustic and not sharp, it's a truly kick ass sword.

RGM -- a whetstone and some light machine oil will make it good for a couple of swings. :-)

Ooh, sorry, I once won a ride in a fire engine. But that was a long time ago.

I've already had to have a lengthy chat with a nice policeman perfectly prepared to shoot me if I looked like I was going to make a move on him once, sugar, I don't think sharpening it would be a good idea. Much as I'd like to think otherwise, I would hurt myself. : )

And, more recently, two tickets to see Ray Barreto (sp?) from what was (and has now become again?) BBC Greater London Radio. That was cool.

Hey, I got posts to burn.

RGM -- that sounds like one baaadass game of scissors-paper-stone to me. :-)

I've never won anything but Trivial Pursuit.

I've won a small amount of cash once from a charity raffle at work (which I promptly lost along with my wallet), movie tickets a few times, and a free lunch with the CEO of the company I work for.

The lunch with the CEO never panned out, thankfully. We ended up getting a free lunch for my office (a small group) instead, which was much nicer.

I hardly ever win stuff, but a couple of weeks ago I won some travel vouchers in an office draw. So I'm off for a dirty weekend in Copenhagen.

Is it the first time you'll be in Copenhagen, Ariadne? Planning on something in particular?

Couple of videos/DVDs off radio 1.

Won a CD of my choice in the dancetech.com "Guess the Synth" competition, which was a bit cheeky, I tell you.

Umm...

Audition poster and syringe-pens (cool!) from student newspaper.

That's it, really.

I won a competition when I was about 7 or 8 to design a stamp for the Post Office. My prize was a blow-up version of the stamp I designed and a trip to the main UK sorting office. Thrilling. Tight bastards.

Yep, first time in Copenhagen. And 'dirty weekend' just about spells it out. Plus a bit of cycling and looking about the place. Can't wait.

I also won a school competition, had to write a report on my home town and won a tour of a local hotel, a wallet from said hotel and also a meal for my family at the same place. Best part was the journey there they provided a limo for me and the other winner.

Precious Memories

Oh yeah and I remember winning the Grand National well not me personally I bought Spotty Pyjamas with the money (Spotty as in the character from Superted)

I won a metal tray with a picture of hedgehogs on it, in a school sports-day raffle. I chose it from a fantastic table-top array of cheap toiletries and practical household objects - just the sort of thing to set 12 yr olds' pulses racing.

Won 19 quid on a horse in the Welsh Grand National just after Christmas, on a tip from my brother-in-law. 14-1 and it came in first, woohoo! He also correctly identified the winner of the next race, but we were too sensible to go with it. Bugger. The horse was Mini Sensation, btw.
Hattie:
"My prize was a blow-up version of the stamp I designed and a trip to the main UK sorting office. Thrilling. Tight bastards."

Wha? That sounds fantasic! I'd love that now. I suppose I can see how a nipper might not appreciate it though.

No kidding, I was driven to the sorting office, introduced to a line of postmen ("They'll be delivering letters with YOUR stamp on them!!")..then I was shown all he mystical ways of sorting mail, performed by another row of postmen with "shoot me" written on their faces...and then to end the day I was treated to a slide show presentation about the history of the frigging Post Office. As you say, not something a 7-year old girl would be engrossed in, really.

I've actually won loads (mostly weeny amounts of money) but that's only cos I keep entering for things. I've won three gameshows (100%, No Win No Fee and another one, fact fans) - none of them, fortunately, on a watchable channel at a watchable time unless you're unemployed. I've also won a T-shirt, free cocktail and theatre tickets at my friend's show (not a fix, I promise). Doesn;t make up for when my sister won a radio alarm clock in a Care Bear competition when I was 8 though.

My favourite win has to be 200 guineas (guineas I ask you! Practically the only reason I entered!) and a lifetime subscription to the Frogmore Papers (poetry mag) in last year's Frogmore prize comp. I also love the idea of winning a lifetime subscription to anything. Even poetry.

Well I think we can close this thread up now, can't see anyone topping you winning 100%!!

What was the other one? Topranko?

I presume that was 100%, and not spin-offs 100% Gold or 100% Adult?

100% is great. No William G Stewart, just the questions. And the cash. (And another yay! for the wonderfully archaicness of winning 200 guineas).

That was, indeed, the original 100%. They had me back on 100% Millennium Edition but I arsed it up at the last moment (you can imagine the vanishingly slight look of disappointment on my stunned-rabbit face as I stared unblinking into the hypnotic eye of the camera ...) They gave me a bottle of champagne for taking part though. Quite nice stuff too. Happy, heady days ....

The Return Of Rothkoid

I've gameshowed, too. Sale Of The Century, in fact. I won some rather nice jewelry that I hope someone still thinks is good.

Sigh.
