Mek

Now that all three parts of "Mek" by Warren Ellis are out anybody got any comments on the thing ?.

On my part I think like Global Frequency its a good concept, which is neutered by the hamfisted implementation. The whole transhumanism aspect of the Mek movement was nicely presented, and should have been explored more. As it stands it came across as being all surface, no feeling.

My 2 cents there.

I was plesantly surprised about how MEK turned out. Everyone on here had been pointing at Sarissa proclaiming she was sterotypical Ellis hero/heroine. All black coat, posthuman ideology and hard assness. Ellis turns this around and reveals that she is really a hypocritical psychotic bitch who is willing to set "her" movement back ages and kill innocent people out of bloated ego and nostalgia.

#3 was a plesant if disquiting surprise.

However, I would have sold children to see this with Eric Canate's art instead of the Rolston's.

I don't think she was hypocritical, just very pissed that her dream didn't go the way she had wanted it to and all that. Global frequency is cool as hell, but uh what about planetary!

I just reread it last night, and it works better as a whole rather than the individual issues. I agree with Method Man that Sarissa let Sky Road be wiped out as it didn't fit her view of what Mek should be.

Maybe I was a little hard on it...

No argument there with why Sarissa did what she did, but how is letting Sky Road be destroyed and people killed because she didn't like what it had become while silmultaniously killing innocent people with her own Black Mek not hypocritical?

She's a cast iron fucker. And I think making her one was a birllant move on Ellis' part.

And as for Planetary, everything is waiting on John Cassaday to stop drawing the Captain America book.

And why was he drawing the Captain America book?

Either because he tired of waiting for new Planetary scripts, or because he really has a problem with Arabs. Take yr pick.

Ellis wasn't producing scripts due to illness and Cassaday had to eat (I assume he's not a bretharian). So he took the Cap gig. Now there is a serious backstock of Planetary scripts and no one to draw them.

ah man, thanks people, I was wondering about planetary.
no, wait, you're right rexpop(and kevin) she is hypocritical(I didn't really think about it so much), for the fact that she was against bad mek while she herself owned bad mek(fighting fire with fire I suppose). but, I like the story still, it wasn't great, but still good and better than most comics out there.
