Thursday 23rd Jan, The Foundary, odd music being played

So me and one of my friends have blagged a slot next Thursday night, at Bill Drummond's boho bar the Foundary (just off Old Street, Hoxton area, London) to play odd music all evening. I reckon a fair few 'lithers will enjoy this sort of thing, so all you lovely lot are invited down.

We spontaneously decided to form a band last night, named it today (Kahoonas Apparent) and are due to play next week. Ultimate act of punk-itude or musical suicide? Turn up and decide for yourself. Expect some sort of keyboards, bass and drum machine Throbbing Gristle-esque noise. Bring some sort of noise-making device and join in...

The rest of the night I'm taking the opportunity to DJ some music that doesn't get played out enough- ie. Kid 606, The Boredoms, C64 music, Add N to X, Fridge, Stereolab, Yo La Tengo, etc. Post-rock, leftfield pop, experimental electronics and noise. Music for Wire readers. So if you want to have an evening of listening to this sort of music played LOUD, then come on down. It's free and the drinks are cheap.

Love ii. xxxxxx.

I note with wry amusement that whenever we meet in the Foundry at least one person complains that it is far too fucking loud, and that it's a pub that wants to be a club and ends up just being a pain in the arse....

I'll be there if I'm free...

I am unfortunately in a complete state of un-freeness, but would love a tape of your DJ set if in any way possible...

Music for Wire readers sounds good to me! Are you really going to just turn up and play? You jammy mofo. Might come out as I'm finally, finally back in the sarfffff as of next week.

We really are going to just turn up and play... Which means we're either going to sound daring and experimental or just shit. I'll turn the volume down on request. I look forward to seeing some of you down there- I'll be wearing an "I am 23" badge.

*Bump*

Kahoonas Apparent present I could do better than that at The Foundary tonight. The band will be playing two 23 minute sets on the hours of eight and nine. There are two rules to I could do better than that:

1) Don't talk about I co- not really.

1) If you think you could do better than the band, come up give it a go.
2) No beer near the keyboards.

Not to worry, (surprisingly) we've been asked back for Thursday 6th March. I'll keep everyone posted. Cheers all. ii.

Sorry, darlings - I was just too knackered. It's been a crappy, crappy week and my insomnia is back in full effect; could only slump in chair muttering vile imprecations to an uncaring God...
