Are W.A.S.P. cool again ... were they ever ... ?

as my friday night flows down a canal of white wolf-blass ( xoc take note - it IS as nice as the red )... i find myself listening to W.A.S.P. - the crimson idol - classic songs like chainsaw charlie ( murders in the new morgue ), arena of pleasure and the great misconceptions of me ... fab

... or is it ?

after reading the TG24 thread by chairman , my mind is drunkenly wandering around musical areas ...

is music EVER as good as you remember ... ?

also , i've got a mate who once headbanged so much at a W.A.S.P. concert , he passed out during the third song ... tee hee hee

No no no no no... You could not be more wrong, even if your life's ambition were to give George Bush a blowjob, with tongues. I am bowed down by my despair. While there remains one living, breathing WASP fan in this sorry world, my mission will never be completed...

*sighs and reaches for his Glock to put this poor man out of his misery*

xoc , cantankor is wailing like a banshee because i have now moved onto the joyous wonder of STYX ... honestly , that woman has NO musical taste ...

anyway , W.A.S.P. have important sociological and psychological things to say eg. fornicate like a lion and flaming cod-pieces !?!?!

Having had all manner of inspirational "rock" foisted on me, I don't think WASP were ever cool. They do a good poster though - all hair, make-up and shades. Nice!

hmmm...

my rock mythology knowledge might have gone the way of my childhood but wasn't a member of WASP involved in an unfortunate incident with an exploding codpiece firework?

if not it should have happened.

Why does W.A.S.P. have the punctuation anyway? Is it an acronym.

For Wellingtons Are So Pervy
or Will Always Suck, in Perpetuity, perhaps

Yes, Motley Crue were better. Welcome newbies. People agreeing with me makes me happy, thank you.

i'm the happiest fucking newbie on the planet.

i have wine.

has anyone noticed wine is getting stronger? a few years ago when i was but a lad, we sneered at anything under 12% which was as far as i knew the strongest.

now i just bought some thats 14.5%

or is it that i now don't stick to a strict budget of £2.99?

how far off topic did i veer there? like a used condom zooming round the S-bend

Well, Xoc, tragically, I know (without any prompting from the "Rock God" in my life) that W.A.S.P. stands for "We Are Sexual Perverts". Yes, I hang my head in shame!!! That's why they have songs such as "Animal (F**k like a beast)"; "Kill, F**k, Die" (that's an album too!) and, my particular favourite, "Don't Cry, Just Suck".

I'm away to look out my spandex trousers and shades to match my poodle perm!

Ho hum!

none of this of course compares to the majesty of the superbly named...

FASTER PUSSYCAT!

ah sweet memories of listening to "Bottle in Front of Me"

bonus point for the director of the film they ripped their name from.

cantankor
20:22 / 10.01.03
Apparently, the director was Russ Meyer and the film was "Faster Pussycat Go Go!!".

Thanks to my resident "Rock God" for that information.

that
20:24 / 10.01.03
Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

tragically , i told the wife the wrong info - pretty sure it was 'FASTER PUSSYCAT, KILL! KILL!' ...

you're a lucky man

some people pay for that

hanabius yamamura
20:41 / 10.01.03
believe me , i'll pay ...

anyway , re codpiece accidents as mentioned earlier( NO connection intended ) ... i believe blackie lawless (lead singer + bass guitarist then rhythmn guitarist )ALLEDGELY once had an accident when his flaming codpiece ( essentially a codpiece with a firework strapped to it ) slipped round and , as opposed to firing forwards , shot up the crack of his arse and set his hair on fire !!!

bummer

my cockroach Gonzalez
20:48 / 10.01.03
some people pay for that too

i'm glad you remembered - i was begining to think i dreamt the whole story - which was worrying to say the least, and could have lead to things like this...

"...so, tell me about your mother..."

hanabius yamamura
20:55 / 10.01.03
... which brings me to the next freak in the electric circus ... chris holmes ...

apparently , this 6'6"-er used to play his lead guitar solo then flip his guitar over and GRATE his knuckles on the cheese grater he had nailed there till his hand pished blood ... no wonder the guy drank a lot !!!

my cockroach Gonzalez
21:04 / 10.01.03
hmmm not sure who he was cos i am ignorant of band member names.

another couple of groups that sprang to mind in that horrible kind of "i did what when i was pissed" way...

Enuff Z Nuff

Urg day glo acid colors is all i remember of them

Dogs D'Amour

Now I could listen to them again...my old bedsit was not so much a graveyard of empty bottles as a graveyard of smashed bottles..the landlord wasn't pleased

hanabius yamamura
21:13 / 10.01.03
chris holmes was the big blonde guitarist ...

anyway :

he gave jesus tattoos
and took the devils soul
he got the angels drunk
and gave them a gutter(?)for a home
(ballad of the bullet-proof poet)

... god , i LOVED the dogs d'amour

USED(capitals intended) to think tyla was fabulous wild - not ( as i think now )just a sad drunk who would slash himself accidentally on stage ...

to quote neil sedaka (?) - #those were the days my friend , we thought they'd never end , we'd sing and dance , for ever and a day ...

remember tigertailz ... why would you call yourself pepsi???

tigertailz rings a sorta bell.

i do however remember the concept album abortion that was EXTREME

now what the hell was that album called?

shit, all the damn hairspray musta rotted my brains...i'm sure it was the hairspray anyway ;-)

the Dogs where mighty indeed, and were the band to be into if you wanted to look down on the casual(ties) that liked Guns N Roses (or as we HILARIOUSLY (hah!) referred to them, Nuns N Noses...some wierdness about Nasal Sex no doubt)

it was great being a teenager then. seems so naive now though :-)

hanabius yamamura
21:31 / 10.01.03
i prefered the classic BUNS AND TOASTIES !!!

ganesh , i KNOW you're a secret W.A.S.P. fan - i've seen you fold your arms with your shades on!!!

EXTREME ??? only thing that comes to mind is the band with their album pornograffitti ... ???

my cockroach Gonzalez
21:33 / 10.01.03
thats the one!

damn that hairspray...damnit.

i'd have far more of a brain left if i'd been into the Mondays

No, no, no; I was a fan of whatsisname - y'know, the one out of WASP that went on to become the bass player in Radiohead?

21:54 / 10.01.03

The Return Of Rothkoid
05:32 / 11.01.03
Um. The Crimson Idol is fucking terrible.

That is all.

Thank you.

No, wait. I'll bet the evil guitar of the piece was made by Ibanez. Any money.

I know quite a bit of people that are exceptionally into cheese metal, card carrying Dokken and Krokus fans, and they all think W.A.S.P. suck. I think that they have a couple good songs here and there ("I Wanna Be Somebody" comes to mind), but for the most part, I tend to agree with my butt rock friends. However, Blackie Lawless is a really cool name, way better than Nicki Sixx. And, out of curiosity, does anyone else think that there is some sort of connection between Blackie Lawless and Lucy Lawless (of Xena fame)?
On an aside, someone mentioned Enuff Z'nuff, and they are from my home town of Blue Island, and for quite sometime, after their prime, you couldn't walk a block without seeing an Enuff Z'nuff sticker somewhere. My older brother has met the lead singer, Chip Z'nuff, on several occasions and has a few stories about him. You can recognize Unkie Chip (as my brother and his friends refer to him as) by the huge, purple felt hat that he wears that has a big, plastic dandelion sticking out of the front of it.
