Well, I ain't too sure of the correct spelling, but I was wondering if anyone here plays .

If you've not seen it played before - and I'm guessing most of you haven't - it's kind like a mini version of pool, played with plastic pieces on smooth wooden table. It's Indian in origin, though has picked up a few fans in the UK - there's a national league etc. though it's still pretty small. Takes a while to get the shooting right but, when you do, it's a fantastic game and a very convivial way to spend an evening. It can get really fast, lots of rebound shoots and angles. It's improved my pool playing no end. Just wondering if there's anyone else out there?

Yes. Many times. In fact, I happen to be very pally with a couple of ex-Karum (I can't remember the spelling either) board creators/builders/crafters/whateverthefuck. I'm shit at Karum. It hurts my delicate fingers.

There's a guy in Camden Market that sells them.

It's thought to be South Indian, possibly Sri Lankan in origin, the Internation Carrom Federation site has lots of interesting info...

Yeah, have played it a few times, it's great fun... (and Runce, wear plasters for your delicate wee dandy hands...)

yeah... knew a guy with family in Bahrain [sp?] who now loafs in Teneriffe. Very particular about changing seated position or using a different finger. Also had "special" powder for dusting the table - but I think there are cheaper alternatives.

Saw a table in Spittalfields market - Dunno if this is the same Camden connection.

Caroom tables do seem to crop up where there's a little trinket selling - small trader- arts n' crafts market vibe. The annual championship was in Covent Garden a couple of years back.

Pity there's not more peeps who play on here. Am deciding if I have enough time/ can be bothered / am sad enough to contact some kinda club to "raise my game" or to continue with the current thrash my flatmate when drunk once a week syndrome.

(We play Caroom afterward. Fnar fnar.)

I've played it a few times - my SO has a table. I'm pretty rubbish though. Know loads of people that play, actually...

I love playing. I bought a table before before moving to Canada but it is now stashed at my sisters and I have yet to retreive it.

I would love a game. We should have a CarromBarbemeet.

Sounds good to me mate!
Are you any good? I'm not that hot, but alright-ish...

I want to get better as it's the only competetive thing I've ever been good at in my life!

Been a while since I played but give me some time to practice and I'll beet your monkey ass up and down the street.
