London - Manchester trains: which station?

This seems an utterly basic question to ask, but it seems to have eluded British Rail's various websites. Can someone help us out with the obvious and let us know which London rail station runs to and from Manchester? Pleeeeease?

I think it's Euston but I could be, well, wrong.

Thanks, Anna/Janina, Virgin's distinctly unhelpful website seems to indicate Euston and occasionally Kings Cross but offers one journey via Stafford of 11 1/2 hours. I think we will turn up at Euston and just hope for the best. Don't these people realise that Ganesh has a nephew awaiting our benevolent gaze and presentation of baby sized trainers/tiger suit/London Underground babygro. Sometimes it is apparent why people just have cars and say fuck public transport, too hard!

That's a shame, Haus. I have always wanted to travel from St Pancras. It must be one of the loveliest of London's train stations. I am singularly missing GNER at this precise moment: a fine railway company they are! Bloody Virgin!

Hooray - a nerdthread!

In future, you could try www.thetrainline.com, or better still, ring National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950 - it's a 24 hour service and will give you all the info you need.

As for St Pancras, just go there! If you really need an excuse, take a trip to Nottingham and say hello to my friend who lives there.

Easy peasy after all. Thanks for the advice, folks. Ganesh's nephew is a little cutie and has inherited his uncle's nose, although that may just be from having it squished in the birth canal. Haven't been in Manchester for twenty years or more but I have to say I rather liked it and will return to investigate further.

We now face joining in the exodus of Scots from London to Edinburgh on Hogmanay. I suspect it is going to be like training it into Bombay in the rush hour but we must not disappoint our fans north of the border. They will need our help to drink all that booze and I suspect the fatted calves are being led to slaughter as I type...

Pretty sure it's Euston. Euston generally serves the NW, and King's Cross the NE, though of course Britain's a funny-shaped country so there are overlaps.

You've probably been and come back now haven't you?
