When I did it at university, the textbook that was used was called, inventively enough, Psychology by Henry Gleitman. I was on the third edition - it's now in its fifth. While you can go deeper into everything that's in there - and for things like Freud's writings, for example, you definitely should - it's a good all-purpose survey of the field. I wish I had it with me, in fact. It's published through WW Norton, and there's info on it here. Get the hardback version; you can't kill it with a stick. |
