In Iceland, Thor Magnusson, founder of the Peace 2000 charity, and famous for going to warring countries dressed up as Santa Claus to promote peace, may spend three years in jail for simply sending emails to the police and newspapers warning the danger icelandic planes face because of Iceland's helping the USA on the war against terrorism.
Now, everyone is disturbed because of the 9-11, and the fight against terrorism is a good one, although not how it is being handled by America, but does anyone alse besides me think that this is a step into extremism? All he did was send emails with valid concerns, and may go to jail for that.
This doesn't even qualify as the work of an agitator; but it seems now everyone can't talk about terrorism if it isn't to show loyal support for the United States. |
