Nestle claiming $6m from Ethiopia

Yes, those loveable Swiss fat merchants are at it again, claiming $6m for a livestock firm nationalised TWENTY-SEVEN years ago. Ethiopia has offered $1.5m, but Nestle want to have their chocolate cake and eat it too. What to do?

BBC story, from which you can follow a link to Nestle for their attempt at justifying the claim.

It's because of crap like this I've stopped buying KitKats and stuff, that'll show 'em.

What I don't understand is (and bearing in mind I'm no economist), why is Nestle now offering to re-invest the exact same money they want from Ethiopia straight back into the country?

Why don't they just leave it in the Ethiopian government's coffers if they're just going to give it back?

See? They're not just tight, they're stupid as well!

Well, Oxfam is asking people not to boycott - because that ends up hitting the farmers who supply them - but to email them telling them they're fuckwits, and that their token offer to give some of the money to famine relief is just pathetic.

According to the Guardian story, $6m is equivalent to one hour of Nestlé's turnover. They're not about to go broke because of it.

But have they stopped the baby-milk powder scam?
