I'm quoting from the article:
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Carole Howlett, who is heading Scotland Yard investigations and a national police spokesman on paedophile use of the internet, said that the entire list of 7,000 would be completely investigated within nine months. So far only Northumbria, Lincolnshire and Durham have begun investigations of their entire lists of suspects.
So 1,200 out of 7,000.
One thing that bothers me about the article is that it's inflammatory. I'll give an example...
One man arrested in London last week had 12 computers, 2,530 CDs, 518 floppy discs, 55 videos and 99 films, all of which are now being scanned by police for possible child pornography.
When you first read this paragraph it seems that the man had 12 computers, 2,530 cds, 518 disks, 55 videos and 99 films of child pornography. But that's not true. These things are being scanned for child pornography but it's not true that they all contain it. |
