You know. To give us time to cool down before posting a flame. To let us check to make sure our HTML worked. Maybe it'll cut down on duplicate posts. And improve our spelling. And slice bread. And make bozon condensates wear tutus.

It would be nice, just so long as it's not something we have to go through to post anything as that would be annoying. But maybe as an option off to one side...

sounds like a fine idea, and it would save moderators time if they didn't have to approve changes for tiny little html errors.

That is a stunning idea. And most definately required. I can get quite picky about some of my posts, and it makes me feel more than a little guilty to bug moderators with something as trivial as 'changed third full stop to a comma'.

I think the best way would be to have a couple of little bulletboxes (or whatever they're called) next to the 'Post Reply' button, one for 'Post Now' and one for 'Test Post'. You then just need to select whichever and hit the 'Post Reply' button.

Excellent idea. Again, something Ikonboard uses which allows you to preview/correct any formatting errors - especially handy for URL's etc.

You see, Janina? If we'd had a 'Test Post' button you could have finished that sentence first time. Now you're going to have to bother moderators to add the missing section in.

If you could see my face you might die so isn't it lucky that ya can't. Anyway to be more constructive I always find preview buttons extremely irritating because the obsessive side of my personality always clicks on them even though I really don't need to. In other words ban the preview buttons, they are the work of the devil, read the thing through before you post it.

Speaking with moderator hat on, can I just say that if people want to make minor corrections to grammar or typography, I have no problem at all dealing with them, AS LONG AS THEY GIVE A REASON IN THE "REASON" SECTION. It doesn't take very long at all to resppnd to a mod request as long as you don't have to scan a passage looking for alterations.

So, yes, preview button if people tink it would help - one thing it might be useful for is HTML errors, which are often quite hard to spot in the raw text but can utterly banjax not just posts but also threads.

Very useful, particularly if you're not sure which HTML works. So I'm just going to use this thread. paragraphitalic boldblah blah blahmore blahs

OK, so the <P> and <BLOCKQUOTE> tags don't work..

Could we pleasepleaseplease have a blockquote function? It would make things a bit neater.

I know there are more important things on the agenda right now, but a preview button on the moderate post screen could be useful, just so we can make sure that any attempts to fix HTML are going to work.

I've had that thought myself, but feared public ridicule too much to bring it up. Bless you, E. Randy.

Errmm... would that not make the 'test post' box *quite* a lot like the preview reply button?

Would blockquote not make barbequotes just a big jumble of boxes, and make everything huge?
