simple as that really. If all the thing you *use* as drugs were taken away from you, and you were only allowed one, which would it be? And why?

(legal or not, personally I count things like alcohol, fags, caffeine as things I've used as drugs at one time or another. Your list may be different. Use the broadest definition of 'drug')

(assuming the internet is not a drug)

Clearly it's booze. Booze is fun. I could give up caffeine, just, and I would like to give up nicotine. I could give up refined sugar products no problem. Don't smoke dope or do speed or acid any more anyway.

Booze rituals are social, and it makes social interaction easier. It comes in many different tastes and forms; you can spend a lifetime exploring different combinations and sources. It goes well with meals. It's a drug you can enjoy, theoretically, without it damaging your long-term health.

Booze of course is definitely the drug that has done me the most damage over the years, so perhaps I would be better off sticking with caffeine.

I could, once it were all flushed out of my system, get by w/o caffeine. I've done it before and wish I had the willpower/alternative sources of energy to do it again. It makes me sick half of the time, but I'm at the point I can hardly get through the day w/o it.

I'm going to be predictable and go w/something that I actually find pleasant: LSD (although I know that it's not technically considered a drug by some definitions). Because the thought of never having the opportunity to experience that lovely substance again in my life makes me just a little sad...

Definitely caffeine. It's in everything including chocolate and I couldn't stop eating chocolate and I love tea and I'm beginning to appreciate coffee a bit more. Cigarettes just aren't as important, if I wasn't drinking alcohol anymore they'd be minor, yep. Of course if you're including sugar I'm screwed and then I'd count shopping as a drug (shoe shopping, mmmmmmmm) and sex and let's not forget books. OK I couldn't give up anything... I'm a drug addict.

Caffeine, baby. Warms my heart, prickles my brain, and goes so well with sugar. In all seriousness though- there's a low level, fairly steady boost with caffeine that I'm just not willing to give up. I've quit drinking caffeine before, but as long as I live a life that doesn't always allow me to wake up naturally, sans alarm clock, and nap whenever I feel the urge, I'll be sticking with it.

it comes down to two things: dope or sugar. dope would probably win but that dope would have to be some seriously powerful dimensional openings/meeting gods type gear.

It's not a drug, its a drink...

I'm torn between caffine and nicoteen. Probably caffine, as I expect I would like to be nicoteen free some day (although the patch can really grow on you).

So caffine then. Or maybe Percocet.

I'm going to ignore the various prescription drugs I take, as most of them are for asthma and no fun at all... (If that's cheating, then the "official" drugs are my "choice" - I wouldn't be alive without them.)

If I had to choose between caffeine, alcohol, mushrooms, sugar, LSD, pot, salvia, etc... I think I'd keep mushrooms. Sugar isn't really a drug for me and I've done without caffeine, alcohol, and pot; it's still a life worth living without them. I want my hallucinogens even if it's only twice a year, and mushrooms are the most user-friendly for me.

Booze. Just because it's the only one I don't think I'd be capable of giving up. (Though fags are a close second, and I'd sure miss all the rest.)

I really wouldn't miss alcohol, nicotine, or caffeine. I would miss sugar, but I'd prefer not to have it around. I wouldn't miss pot, which leaves me with a whole mess of less casual drugs. I don't know - maybe it would be e. I don't need lsd or shrooms really - although shrooms are fun - and I hesitate to say cocaine because I think that's one of the worst drugs to invite over for a habit. Let's say coke if it's once a year, e if more often. I'm with izabelle on this one - I want those experiences once a year or so.

Probably dope. It's so versatile. You can put it in food, fasion delicious drinks from it and taking enough of it could take the place of stronger psychidelics. Oh yeah, you can smoke it too but if I were giving up nicotine I'd be giving up all smoking. Except for smoked meats and cheeses.

My prescription meds. If I had to have only one of them, I'd take one of the anti-depressants. But I'd rather keep them all, as they finally seem to be doing me some good.

Other than prescription medication, I'm pretty much drug free apart from caffeine, and could give that up fairly easily.

I'd like to give them all up apart from maybe dope, when I say all I only mean cigarettes and booze that's my drugs of choice. Booze for sure though I'm really starting to get worried about alcohol, that's why I'm going to stop (in the new year of course!) Why do we do it to ourselfs??

Sugar probably. Which is ironic given my diabetes..

I've been realising in recent weeks that when I get the urge to eat biscuits or buy a chocolate bar, the strength of said urge is a little higher than is really healthy in regard to such a trivial activity.. hopeless biscuit addict.

Coffee's second. How law abiding am I?

Hard one this....

Caffeine? Pfah! Easy. Fuck that shit. Constantly disgusted by the city's dependence on it. Like coffee and tea, but could live w/out 'em. Fags too (giving up as we speak, but sooooo hard).

Class As? Hardly take them. Enjoy the odd line of coke every now and then, but.... a doddle.

Psychedelics? Can only take low doses because of shrooms 'cause tripping scares me shitless. Haven't taken a tab since I was 14.

So that leaves.....booze and pot. And I'm keeping both. Fuck you.

definitely sugar. theres something deeply gratifying about "treating" yourself with sweets. old favorites that remind you of good times, special treats (expensive, rare, difficult to make, or something that only so-and-so knows the recipe), or just indulging for the sake of indulgence. mmmm, sweets

I love acid. Depending on the head games I play with myself while on it, I can simulate prety much any other drug I'd like to take instead. I've often said its the only one I need for that sort of thing.

Yet, it is a bit much. I've found that good weed can do much the same, and I need less and less in the way of psychedelics to get my head into the places I want it to be anymore. So while I'd initially go with LSD, Pot wins with both versitility and controlability. If I can simulate other drug with acid, and can simulate acid with pot, well, that's an easy one, ain't it?

Have to take back (only a small way, mind) my booze thing- I miscalculated and have run out of medication a day earlier than I expected to. And the doctor takes 24 hours longer than I thought to get a repeat prescription sorted. And I feel like poo.

But hey! Booze'll get me through it. That and sleep. And being and work and unable to think about stuff.

Acid. Definately acid. Can't get enough of it (because it's so damn scarce around here. I've got pretty decent hook-ups, and I haven't found any in months and months). I don't think of marijauna as a drug, but you did ask to use the broadest definition of "drug". If weed is a drug, then it has to be weed.

Nah, I take that back. Gimme acid any day.
