What is up w/this? The last couple of times that I've used the internet in the computer labs on campus, IE has gotten slower and slower at loading images to the point where it simply stops doing so. Everything else is still fast, but the images are nowhere to be found. It's really annoying! What do I do?

Won't pretend to know for sure what's causing this, and it would be difficult to diagnose remotely anyway. But ...

-How many apps did you have open? Too many will cause weird effects.
-Some pages with Java can be hogs -- try switching it off in options/preferences.

Other than that, I'm guessing it's external to the machine you were using. If it's no better tomorrow, it may be worth reporting it to your support guys, but I wouldn't expect much in the way of symapthy or immediate action. :-)

Anyone have any other ideas?

It's been ages since I used a PC [someone will correct me in a bit I'm sure]. Pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete will give you the system window where you'll see what apps are running, you'll probably find there's a few things that are slowing you down that don't need to be running. Also, under preferences, clear you cash - if IE didn't load visuals properly at some point it may be loading up half-completed files etc.

I had this happen to me, and it was because I was low on disk space. IE was cramming the images into the cache, but had to wait for free disk space. If you are on a network with lots of users, IE will have to wait for some of them to start deleting things from the file server before it loads images.

Just a guess, by the way.

Is he a fragdamentalist?

Never seen it dramatically fix anything myself, though it doesn't hurt. And you get a nice feeling knowing all your blocks are contiguous.
