i knew that sega had stopped making consoles .. i even knew that they were making a game for Nintendo..

but for some reason my brain didnt quite compute this and it wasnt until i played Sonic Adventure on the Game Boy Advance and Sega symbol came up with the Nintendo logo a few millimetres above the screen that it hit home.

one of the greatest conflicts of my childhood, the sega vs nintendo war, was over.

a divide so massive for my generation (or at least for my part of the world) that it was on the same scale as communism vs capitalism.

back in the day nintendo only magazines spent half of there content insulting Sega, the same was true of the Sega magazines..

children would come to blows over it.. although the nintendo crowd were always younger than the sega crowd so the fights were somewhat onesided..

now the conflict is over.. nintendo has won out..

its a different world..

i know, it's fucking crazy isn't it? when i saw that sonic adv commercial i had this quiet revelation that nothing...will ever be the same...very much like 9/11, but much more serious.

and here i thought we'd be talking about the cosby show spin-off(dwane wayne rocks)

...but then again...all us SEGA fans are awaiting the time when as usual, the more mind-blowing games on any of the new consoles will be SEGA's. Then it'll be just like it was. I mean, VF4 is out in two days and you have doubts? It's gonna be oh so good....I do have to say that I miss the old rivalries though.

the market's polarised and amalgamated; it's Mario vs Snake now

never quite saw the attraction of Sonic personally. Much more fun with Nintendo's bizarre japanese fantasy worlds.

Surely a conflict of this magnitude deserves to be on the 9/11 forum! Possibly we could convince Tom to start a forum devoted solely to this world shaking issue?...

As a close relative of a Dreamcast owner, I must say that it sucks we can't get any more new games for it, BUT those that are out there can be picked up damn cheap.

...never liked that goddamn hedgehog anyways...

Sure the days of the sega/nintendo rivalry are over, but what about the sony/nintendo rivalry? It could get to be just as vicious as the sega/nintendo rivalry was.
