The first Bradbury book I read was The Martian Chronicles, and after that I loved this guy. He's probably my favorite science fiction writer. He might be my favorite writer, period. And his "scary" stories (many of which can be found the collection October Country) are fucking creepy. Try The Veldt, and that one who's name escapes me at the moment. The one where the husband thinks his new-born child is attempting to kill him and his wife. Don't think babies can be scary? Ha. Read it. I dare you. The last line, delivered by the doctor, is soooooooo cold.

I'm not sure what my favorite story of his is...probably "The Fourth Expedition" from The Martian Chronicles, although The Illustrated Man had some really good ones. And, of course, there's always Farenheit 451, which to this day I can't read just a little bit of it. I gotta finish the whole thing.

I think his newest is One More for the Road, which I took a look at the other day. Fucking great. I'm glad he's still putting stuff out. He has never failed to impress me.

You're thinking of "The Small Assassin."

"Look, baby! Something bright! Something shiny!"

I agree..the man writes wonderfully. One author I definitely need to put on the list.

I still have images from "The Man Upstairs" (I believe) from my high school english class. If you haven't read it, take a look...a man renting the apartment upstairs behaves similarly to a vampire and makes the renter's son curious enough to poke around. Goodness ensues...
