Hello darlings,

Does anyone know where we go twith the Barbelith FAQ? Is there a draft version around? Only it occurs to me that stuff like how to post images (MOUNT THE FACE) and the whole endless tpic abstractsting would be a lot easier if we had a readymade document...was Jack Fear or Grant working on this?

If wer have a skeleton, I suggest we divvy up the rest between the moderators, and stick it somewhere accessible...

I don't want to appear picky. (I don't want to appear picky, but I'm quite happy to be picky.)

But ever since the relaunch of this board with the new code, I and other people have said:

- tell us exactly which HTML codes are allowed
- I will write an FAQ explaining how to use them

Just imagine. No more "how do I post images? how do I post links?" posts - or, more realistically, you can link them to an FAQ. I think I've made this offer, realistically, about six times, exaggeratedly, ten million times.

Strikes me that a board for non-techies that allows a subset of raw HTML needs an FAQ explaining it. And yes, just to make things perfectly clear, I AM OFFERING TO WRITE AN FAQ ON THIS IF I GET INFORMATION ON WHAT CODES ARE ACTUALLY ACCEPTED.

Frankly, I don't think we need any sort of behavioural FAQ whatsoever. Others might disagree on that. But they're wrong.

Sooo, what we're suggesting is that having an FAQ page isn't really necessary, but having some form of HTML guide sheet is? Sounds sensible.

The FAQ was envisaged, I think, more as a potted history to have a handy thing to point to if somebody asked what this night of a thousan Elois everyone was talking about was, or what people meant by calling something a bit greenland, rather than a set of codes of conduct. Although a bit on why topic abstracts are useful, or what is appropriate approximately to each forum would save a bit of time and hassle...

Right then. If nobody objects, I wll hoover up the questions on the various FAQ threads Lada has bumped, stick down some answers where I can and we can then prod, poke and edit that until it looks like an FAQ. Howzat?

Here's some stuff for your FAQ stew.

Thanks Deric - that's very useful.

OK - I have gathered together all the FAQ questions already asked. Some have already been very capably answered, and I shall credit and append where time has moved on. If you have further questions, with or without answers, that you think would be useful, PM me with them.

Once that's done (and it may take a while) do we want an open forum discussion, or should i just email it to Tom?

Discuss for one week, then email off.

Actually, there's an even better idea in the works...
